Fasting

Tomorrow is fast Sunday for our ward. It was moved for the holidays. Which two meals I fast for usually depends on what time slot we attend church. normally during this time slot I would fast for dinner and breakfast and eat lunch when I get home but I have not been able to fast for dinner now so I fast for breakfast and lunch.
Fasting use to be really hard for me and I would despise the day and I would not like the sacrament meetings either. My foster brother when I was growing up would tell me "Oh its gossip day, today we will find out all the juicy gossip on everyone town"
There was a time when I left the church for three years when I came back I looked at fast Sundays with a new light. I got excited about fasting and looked forward to what my kids call testimony day. I actually had people ask me how I could get excited about it. I told them I feel rewarded for it just the same as when I do an act of service. I am normally fasting for someone else and when I have no idea who to fast for I fast for strength and faith.
My husband and I usually have a crock pot dinner or something real fast to cook since by the time we can eat we are nauseous or get annoyed very easily.
How do you handle fasting? Is it hard on you and your diet? If you fast which meals do you choose or prefer to fast from?

We don't mind fasting, we just usually forget! We are so forgetful that it is usually late Saturday night and we are having a late snack when we remember, or when I am getting out the stuff for breakfast the next day...or when the bishop announces that it testimony meeting...any ideas on how to remember sooner? I know I should be more responsible and be on top of everything, but I JUST HAVEN"T BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS>>> I feel physically good even though I have never had any over the top spiritual experiences while fasting, but I understand the principle of sacrifice and I know that it is important! Just wish I could remember!

Your Bishop Should announce Fast Sunday the weekend prior as a reminder. If he does not, go request it, it helps more than just you as a gentle reminder whats happening the following Sabbath. I generally get excited about it being a new month which means the first Sunday is normally fast and testimony month( unless there is conference) I also got excited for the 5th Sunday of the month(combined service) before I got put in nursery because it meant I would be having a Sabbath day with my husband and he could not run away from me. I also enjoyed the young women coming into Relief Society so we could model for them and gradualize them in.
Other than that you have already made the first step to remembering. Realizing its important you and wanting to do it.
P.S. if you forget start when you remember or make it a point to do it the following weekend. I have heard tons of stories of water fountains being contaminated and people attempted of being poisoned and it did not happen because it was a fast Sunday. There is also research on people who fast expel there body toxins faster and have better tolerance to sickness and poisons. So fasting is not only asking for a gift but you are rewarded for it.
