Weekend was rather rough but made it through. I thought I was at a 3lb loss but right now I'm at a solid 1 lb (which actually I'll be happy with as it's been a long time since I lost anything). I'm going to weigh-in officially Weds (that's when another group has weigh-ins) so I'm hoping to be back at 2 lb. Hate water retention! Salt and bread/pasta are bad to me.

    How are you doing, shydaisi?

I am waiting to "officially" weigh-in tomorrow... I am retaining some water (I hope...) due to my menstrual cycle (I think...) and am hoping some of that disappears over the next day or so. I am technically dead even with last week as of this morning. We will see what tomorrow brings! After only losing 0.2 last week, I was hoping to have a larger drop this week. :frown:

    12.02.2011: 190.6 lbs.
    12.09.2011: 187.4 lbs.
    12.16.2011: 186.2 lbs.
    12.23.2011: 185.4 lbs.
    12.28.2011: 183.2 lbs.
    01.03.2012: 183.0 lbs.
    01.10.2012: 181.4 lbs.

Down a total of 9.2 lbs. in 6 weeks! I have been eating a weekly deficit of about 5,250 calories, which translates to an expected 1.5 pound loss per week - almost exactly what I lost! I have had weeks where I lost more and weeks where I have lost less, but over time it averaged out to exactly what I should have lost! I love having more control over what I am losing. I think that my average being so close to what it should have been shows that I am estimating my calories consumed and burned fairly accurately.

    12.22.2011: 195.6lbs.
    12.27.2011: 196.8 lbs.
    01.02.2012: 198.6lbs.

Loving this method still!!! Feeling totally in control of my weight loss!!! And I know as long as that end of the day number is in the green... I am not going to gain any weight!!!!

Love seeing the green number, no matter how small:

    12/28: 158
    1/4 - 157
    1/11 - 155

When I first got on the scale, it said 150, which I was thrilled to see but knew it couldn't be right. Next time it said 152, then 157, then 155. I have no idea really, but I'm going with 155 as it seems possible. Guess I need a new scale. But if I get a new scale, it may tell me I'm heavier than my start weight!

i am going to go with my monday weight: 1/09/2012.....176.8
  • Hey, all. At the advice of other MFP-ers (including Pam3), I've started with this method. I'm particularly excited about how it will look on the 'weekly' tab on my app. I can already tell this is going to be a new, good perspective for me. I'd love to get in on these weigh-ins, if for no other reason than for accountability and record keeping! I'm excited about this method and appreciate Olivia and the rest of you for the information and sharing this great idea. I'll put my weigh-in from Monday as my starting point for this week.

    01/09/12: 165.5

I'm pretty excited about this and on my first week as well. since setting my calories to maintenance I looked back at the weekly totals for my previous entries.

I'd go over "a little" and "occasionally". Really most weeks I was only netting 100 - 200 calorie deficits. No wonder I plateaued.

Still my range between my BMR calories and maintance calories is reeeeally small

    01/11/12 = 140

Down 3 lbs this week. I quit strength training (long story) right before Christmas and since I have been doing more cardio I am seeing spikes in my weight loss. For example last week only down .8 lbs, this week down 3 lbs. Not sure what is causing it as I am eating about the same amount of calories. Any thoughts?

I think your body retains a bit of water when strength training for muscle repair, so maybe you are shedding that water?
