So just wondering about the technology side of fitness like pedometer, heart rate monitors, GPS etc. What do people use? Any brands that everyone likes?

I currently use a pedometer which i love. Seems to be pretty accurate and does steps, miles/KM and calories. Still need to find it again seem to have misplace it a couple weeks ago.

Looking into getting a heart rate monitor but haven't found one yet.

And I guess I could put this year as well. Does anybody use DVDs or the Wii Fit systems? I bought a Wii Fit last winter thinking I would be more willing to workout inside then in the dark outside but only have used it a handful of times. Don't mind it but never seem to work up a sweat ( like barely warm!) and the lack of space in the living room meant me moving furniture out of the room every time I wanted to workout and now can't even do that now ( to much furniture now).

What about the Zumba DVD?

I have a Gaiam pedometer that I love, but haven't used this time around. Normally I just wear it to make sure I'm getting in my 10,000 steps a day. With my job, it's not that hard. It has a light on it, and an alarm if you are out by yourself and need to make some noise. It's the intermediate pedometer, I've also used the advanced one which also has a pulse rate detector.

I need to look into a HRM, too. I want a BodyBugg but they are SO expensive!

I have a bunch of DVDs from prior fitness attempts, but I haven't used any of them recently. I mostly like: pilates, bellydance, and quick cardio workouts. I want to try the NYC Ballet Co.'s DVD, and a few others. Gaiam has some really good DVDs - and Barnes & Noble has a lot of them, and they currently have a buy 2, get 1 free sale!

Don't have the Zumba DVD/workouts myself, but a friend has them on her Wii and loves them!

I have a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor that I LOVE. The numbers the cardio machines give and the numbers on the MFP cardio listings always seemed to be way off, so I got the monitor to help me track a more accurate calorie burn.

I've got a collection of DVDs, but don't use them much anymore. The Wii Fit is more of a toy than a piece of fitness equipment. Back when I was heavier and looking for low impact workouts, the Urban Rebounder was my favorite piece of equipment.
