What do you do with the information you get from FitBit?

I received my Fitbit from my kids for Christmas. Since then I have diligently watched my calories burn and the steps mount. But how am I suppose to use this information wisely with MFP? Do I compare the calories burned with the calories eaten? Are the steps recorded reliable? Is there more that I am missing?

Replies

  • Personally I use MFP to track food and use the fitbit to track my activity level.
  • The steps are pretty accurate. My boys got a hold of mine and shook it for awhile. It registered a couple of steps but as much as they were shaking it, it should have done more.

I am using fitbit to monitor my activity because I found out that I am not nearly as active as I thought I was. I get the weekly progress reports email to me and I compare them week over week and see if there are any improvements.
