I feel like I have been doing so well with not restricting myself too much this time around. I'm eating 1200 a day... [EDITED BY MOD - TRIGGERING] ...AND I've cut my exercise down from 1 hr+ a day to 30 minutes plus a little lifting a day. However I feel like I can control so well every day, but then I slip a little bit. And this isn't the normal over restricting/over bingeing cycle I'm referring to. I mean I will go over by maybe 100 or 200 calories and I can't handle that I messed up so I wan't to get rid of it. This is how my purging has always been... not because of huge binges but more because of imperfection in my food control.

Has anyone experienced this? And how do you all handle it when you slip up and know you "could" get rid of it and be back on your perfect and healthy food plan?

  • I don't know exactly what to say to help. If it helps you to know that someone else has similar issues, I can help there. I as well as I am sure many have issues with perfectionism. My purging has always been like yours, I don't give examples or too much info because I don't like to give others any ideas they don't already have, so I am going to stop with that statement.

However, if when you say in the last paragraph "could get rid of it" meaning the same as the "get rid of it" in the first paragraph, I plan ahead for the possibility of getting rid of it by talking to a friend on the phone, or going out and being in public places, groups of people and that sort of stuff. Hopefully, you are not thinking that restricting/over bingeing and purging are your perfect and healthy food plan, it doesn't sound like you do, but I am just checking. Please be careful and if you don't have one set up a support system, and possibly a safety plan that is written out so you don't have to remember what to do when you slip. Come up with ideas now of what you can do when you have rough times or slip ups that is what I mean by safety plan, just in case you didn't already know.

Hope this helps, be safe and push forward
  • Thank you for the advice!

On a side note sorry MFP I'm not sure what I said that got moderated out I definitely didn't mean to say anything I wasn't supposed to!
