Change in food cravings since going GF?

I have been gluten free for about 4 months. I have never been much of a meat eater and hadn't eaten red meat or pork for close to 10 years. On the other hand, I would crave bread/pasta like crazy. In less than a month after going GF I started craving bacon, something that made me gag before. Over the next few weeks I began to crave red meat like crazy. I've incorporated these back into my diet (in moderation) but it still boggles my mind that my taste in foods would change that drastically. Does anyone know why this could be happening or have you experienced something similar?

I have no special knowledge, so speaking simply from my own experience...drastic changes in your diet will often cause your body to do switcheroos...and going GF is, from the body's perspective, a drastic change.
And it may depend on what going GF "fixed" for you. If you had problems with malabsorption that are fixed, or possibly the 'unmasking' of true macronutrient needs now that 'cravings' are now gone, that could explain why your body wants something it didn't seem to want before. So maybe your body is trying to get the raw materials it needs to rebuild after going so long with the wrong fueld.
Just some thoughts. My only off-topic thought with the bacon is that...its salty...so it is possible that your body is trying to get some sort of mineral or metal that it feels its missing.

A lot of times when i am walking into work there is a fresh bread smell. I would give almost anything just to be able to eat a fresh cooked sourdough bread with butter on it. I do crave chocolate though so I keep gf chocolate on hand0
