Career Changers

Hello my friends,
Are there any career changers in our group? If so, I'd like to hear your story.
I have been living overseas for the past 16 years. For the majority of those years, I have been teaching in international schools. However, my current contract ends this coming June, and my son and I have decided that we would like to go back to Texas and try that out for a while. My son was born overseas and although a US Citizen, hasn't ever lived there! I left when I was 24, so the majority of my adult life has been spent as an expat.
I like teaching and really enjoy what I do, but I am not sure if that's what I want to do career wise upon returning home. For some reason, going back to the States is a more nerve-wracking decision than moving on to another country. So, I am looking for some inspiration from you guys,

Wow, how exciting. I haven't been overseas in years. Would you like to stay in teaching -- training for corporations or organizations? Or teaching in schools?
Or something else entirely different? What's your dream job -- if you could do anything?

Hi... I changed careers in 2010 when I was laid off from a sales position due to the poor economy. After volunteering with the USO for 14 months, I decided to apply for a job in the Middle East, specifically Kuwait. I was a Duty Manager there for 7 months before asking for a transfer to Afghanistan. My agreement was only for a year, but I ended up staying for 17 months, and the only reason I came home was due to a family medical emergency. I miss it because I am not around our troops on a daily basis. It was an awesome experience and would go back if I had the opportunity. In the meantime, I am looking for a stateside job (hopefully in Texas ) to support our troops here at home!0

Hi....I am a current career changer. I worked in human resources for 10 years and started becoming discontent with the field and decided to pursue a calling that had been on my heart. In 2008, I quit my HR job and started graduate school in 2009 in social work. I graduated with my Master's in Social Work in December 2011 and now I'm looking for a job in that field.0
