You're welcome.
I'm extremely fascinated with all the explanation and comparison. Paganism behind Christianity? Who knew :bigsmile:0 -

All "religion" is interconnected. It's basic principle of love is
the only message that need persevere through the ages.
It is vital we learn to leave behind the fear, doubt & anger.
Love is all.0 -
You look for an explanation of why there is such an abundance of literature and natural phenomena coinciding with the Biblical accounts of God . The entire Bible tells the story of Christ and of salvation . It is a story of creation , the fall of man , the favor of God on a chosen people, the inadequacy of those people to live under the law , the need for redemption in light of the nature of man , the arrival of He who would redeem and the great love involved in that redemption through sacrifice . The entire book points to the end of the story from the beginning . Several writers over hundreds of years write the narrative predicting an occurrence and then chronicle the events as they unfold after the predictions are made . God reveals himself to man . Justin Martyr is made fun of because he attributes the similarities of other religions basing their traditions on satan but would that not be a great way to confuse those who are seeking ? A God who would be known to those who seek him perhaps displaying the prophecy of what will come in the stars of the heavens ? Wise men from the east searching those heavens for a sign correctly interpreting what they see ? ( The Bible does not say 3 wise men or kings , the tradition of three arises due to the number of gifts not the number of those giving ) . Which came first , the chicken or the egg ? Which came first , God creating and revealing Himself or the creation trying to explain its origins .0

Honestly I look for no explanation, and with all the respect to your believes, the reason why I don't believe in the Bible or Christianity in this case, as you are mentioning, is because it doesn't make any sense to me as some who sicks for answers and reason about what I have found along my path. In case you decide to tell me I haven't read the Bible or haven't met someone who knows how to explain it correctly, which in any case is nothing more as how the book is interpreted, I have met quite a few people from different Christian beliefs who have met with me and explained to me what their religion is all about, aside from the fact I have in fact taken classes of the Bible at church as well. Until this day, Christianity still doesn't make any sense to me.
Going back to this video, it doesn't matter how many times the Bible might say stories about creation or how others will try to disproof the religions value of the book, the fact is that when it is engraved in stone, thousands of years before the birth of Jesus, in different regions of the world, describing other Gods of pagan religions, it raise the flag to question whether the "men" who wrote the Bible, were recreating the same story, or what they meant was totally different from how it is interpreted today.
And like I said, you, as well as the rest of humanity are entitled to believe in whatever you want to believe, just as I'm entitle to practice Wicca while I keep questioning the philosophy of other religions and learning more from videos like this one.
PS. I don't believe in Satan existence, therefore "the similarities of other religions basing their traditions on satan but would that not be a great way to confuse those who are seeking" doesn't make sense to me.
Stars prediction was part pagan beliefs, I'm not familiar with it but I doubt the Christian God has anything to do with stars and prediction.
Heaven? Again, I don't believe in heaven.
About the three kings, I'll have to get back to you on that.
God creating or creating? I'll stick with creating with the Creator behind it, not just creating one man and a woman and populating the earth with 7 billion people.0 -
Wow, very interesting.0

I respect your ideas , and no I would not tell you that you have never read or had the Bible explained to you . I was merely responding to the film and when I said " you " I guess what I really meant was mankind in general . I wish that I could eloquently express my point of view but communicating belief may be the hardest thoughts to express .
In regards to the ideas of a sun god carved into rocks long before the writing of the texts of the Bible ,I was trying to offer an explaination of why this would be . The Bible has a common theme throughout it's pages . It all points to Jesus Christ , from the sacrificial system prescribed to be observed in just the specific way , to the cherubim adorning the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies , and on and on . God walked with man before the fall but the fall of man did not lead to plan B , Jesus was plan A from the very beginning . God in creating the universe set the stars in motion . Why would he not point to the savior in the observable sky ? Why would early seekers not see this signs and discuss them and leave images carved in stone regarding their interpretation ?
I am well acquainted with science and the scientific method of explaining observable data and phenomena . A scientist first takes a set of data , looks to that data and try's to express an explanation that will fit the data set by experimentation or observation over time . Too much of what passes for science morphs this process into starting with a conclusion and then seeking data to prove it . I will admit that my offering explanation of the observed sky and rock drawings etc . Is doing just that but much of what is proposed to refute creation does the same thing , not really good scientific evidence when you think about it .0 -

Well, this makes total sense to someone who believe in Jesus and that was what I was trying to explain as well. In the mind of a Christian, absolutely everything evolves around and involves Jesus. In the mind of a pagan like myself, yes, the Creator is involved in the creation of everything that exist, it just doesn't directly get involved in every natural event and just as it doesn't get involved in the behavior of living beings, that's where "free will" comes into play. The stars don't move, in many cases, it is the rotation of the planet around our Sun, just as our solar system also moves within the milky way. Just because ancient civilizations uses the stars for all the things they did, it doesn't mean Jesus or God or the Creator put them there in that specific location for them to point a savior. Again, for the Christian it makes total sense, just not for me.0 -

COUNTERPOINT:
But the scientific evidence suggest that the stars do move , that the universe is expanding (although this brings up another interesting problem : if the Universe contains everything and it is expanding , what is it expanding into ? )
I place Jesus at the center of everything , just like you say so , once again my clumsy way of expressing my point has gotten in the way of communicating my point .
The film suggest that much of what is told as the basis of many religions has been perhaps taken from observable phenomena in the natural world and the sky . What if it is the other way around and the observable has been placed on display to indicate the presence of the creator , whether you believe that to be God , or gods , or a collective consciousness , or whatever ?0 -
Honestly, I can't live my life based on a "what if". Whether I'm right or wrong in what I believe to others, I'll stick with what I believe and question everything else and not limit myself from doing what's right for me because of "what if" :bigsmile:0

Certainly more than fair and I have enjoyed being able to have this discussion . It would be great if others could be civil in discussion of belief and not let it turn into name calling and disrespect .0 -
Likewise!0

That is very interesting. I think what is most interesting is that so many religions have the same base beliefs. I had never heard of other "sons of God" that died and came back to life in three days other than Jesus.0
