Hi all! My name is Cerdwin and I am looking to lose 50 lbs.
I have had 4 children in 8 years and it, along with my unhealthy eating, had taken a toll on my body. Just recently I found out I am gluten intolerant. This has thrown my meal planning in the wringer. I am having a hard time figuring out what i can and cannot eat. Plus I have 5 other people in the house that would really like me ot just cook what I used to cook. If you have any go to (easy) recipies that you would like to share I would be grateful. Any tips would be appreciated too.
Thanks!

HI! I am relatively new too! I am also gluten intolerant :noway: I basically cook the same foods, but instead of pasta and bread we have a lot of rice (brown rice is better than white on the glycemic index) and potatoes (I don't like them, but at least it's a starch!). Be mindful as lots of canned soups have wheat flour in them, even tomato (what!!! That's my fav! SOOO not fair!!):brokenheart: You will get it, just give your self some time to get adjusted and figure out new meal plans. I'm sure your family will adapt too, that's the great thing about kids!!

Hi! welcome!!! I have Celiac disease.. Not sure if that is what you have. It it really easy to find things to eat that are gluten free, Reading labels helps. If it has modified food starch--it's bad. look for modified corn starch. There are alot of companies making gluten free foods. If your family likes things like hamburger helper, there are a few Asian meals that are gluten free, Chex cereals, also gluten free, I make regular pasta for my family and cook corn or rice pasta for me.I don't buy alot of gluten free products since they are more expensive. Some grocery stores have special tags for gluten free. Look in freezer bread section or the bakery for items made by Udi's, very good....Health food stores have a good selection but as I said, more expensive. I eat a lot of salads out, especially grilled chicken...Some restaurants serve hamburgers with out buns and Red Robin puts it in a lettuce wrap..Ask for gluten free menus.....You will adjust and find something gluten free anywhere you go....

There are so many great things you can make to eat. I am vegetarian, completely grain free, dairy free, and allergies, and I still have to count calories to make sure I don't overeat!

There are alot of things you can have that are gluten free. But if you are ever in doubt download the app from celiaccess.com on your phone and you will have answers all the time as to rather it is gluten free or not. It has saved me a couple of sleepless nights. Something I thought would be gluten free, wasn't and this app showed me that it was bad news. Some grocery stores are creating a gluten free area in the store too, so it is easier to shop. You can always go onto amazon.com. You don't have to buy from amazon, but you can write down a list of everyday items that you like, and shop for them at your local grocery.

I am a newly diagnosed NCDGI myself. I wish you luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you all. I am also allergic to dairy so I try and not eat any. Though I will admit I love cheese. :(

I have bad (really) bad the last few days and am now feeling horrible because of it.

I do buy some gluten free pasta but it is just not the same. The kids notice and my Husband won't eat it.

peachNpunkin - thanks for the tip. I am going to do the amazon thing.
