Breastfeeding calories

For any other mamas who are breastfeeding/pumping (I EP) - do you ever count the extra calories burnt from making milk or use up the extra 500 calories a day you are meant to have because of breastfeeding? I add on a few extra because I've noticed that if I don't, my supply does go down quite a bit. I kind of feel like it's cheating though!

Listen to your body and take ques from kiddo. I've been in the process of weening my 11mo. She only breastfeeds at night and before her nap. I don't add any calories for her, but if I were not able to keep up with the demand, I would. Be sure to drink your water and I hear oatmeal is great for supply. Not sure why. Just be sure that any extra calories you do allow are loaded with the right stuff for baby and not just tasty stuff for mom.0

My DD is 10 months old.. I don't nurse her, I exclusively pump because we had latch issues at the beginning and now she just doesn't 'get it'. I pump four to five times a day now and I don't plan on weaning myself off the pump until she is well past 12 months because I also donate milk to a mama with twins. I drink tons of water, so I think it's really getting enough nutrients that is the problem for my supply because it started going down once I started to really cut back on my calories...I think will allow 250-300 of good cals - that seems like a good compromise, right?0
