How many calories do you eat?

I have so much to lose MFP has me eating about 2200 calories a day. I "work out" at Curves about 4-5 times a week. And usually eat all my calories but not necessarily those that I gained from working out (400-500)
I lost 16 pounds in January but nothing since then. I thought I would be smart (ha!) and lower my calories this week to 1800. Umm, that didn't work for me.
In the end, I gained one pound since last week. Throughout the week I was up as much as 5 pounds.
(I weigh myself everyday just because I'm new at this and curious how my weight fluctuates depending on what I'm eating, how much water I take in or how much sodium I've had. I don't take those daily fluctuations seriously.)
You know, there are some people who can cut back on calories and drop the weight easily. Oddly, I've been shown again, that I have to eat more to lose. I've reset my calories to the MFP recommendations and I'll see if things go better.
Does anyone have any recommendations for me? What works for you?

I tried the "quick solution' of 1500 calories minimum for a guy.... and everyone around me suffered. I also didn't lose weight. I upped calories to around 2000 before any exercise and had been losing fine even eating all my exercise calories, eat more to lose more.... as long as you've got your deficit that comes from setting up your profile here you can lose weight.
I haven't been losing weight lately though but I've just added swimming back to my fitness routine so I'll give it the month of February and then I'm looking at my numbers again. I'm going to make sure my daily calorie goal is at least my BMR and eat my exercise calories and see how that goes, I think I've been undereating so holding on to what I do eat... I KNOW now that even if I eat 2500 calories in a day before exercise that IS a reduction from what I was eating previously.0 -
