Pacing with short exercise instructors

How do you all manage this?
I've found over the years that almost all of the Zumba, step aerobics, kick boxing, Jazzercise teachers are all pretty short. The moves and pace are hard for me to follow correctly,
There's no way this six-footer can do a all of moves properly. I feel like I'm cheating the move because I'm not getting full extension, etc.
The choice seems to be either cheat the move or do fewer of them -- which is the better idea? Thoughts?
Even the folks on my beloved videos are short -- Leslie Sansone, Denise Austin, etc.
Are there any tall instructors or videos you recommend?

I have this problem when I do the Jillian Michaels workouts (that chick is TINY!).
The way I get around it is I just do it as fast as I feel comfortable and with proper form. If that means my lunges aren't as low so be it (I am ALL leg so...ya...haha) . As long as I am doing them in a way that isn't going to cause injury and as close to the pace as I can I'm set.
Bottom line, focus on technique over keeping up with the shorties on the screen and you'll still see results0 -

i was thinking about this with the jillian workouts too... in the 30DS, natalie looks like she may be pretty tall. she towers over jillian. so i always follow her. and i pretty much just look at the wall anyway, so i dont even really know if i am going at the same speed or not... i dont really care, results are results lol.0 -
I'm 5'11, and trust me...the more fit you get, the more agile you become, you will be able to keep up. My kickboxing instructor is about 5'2, and when I first started I remember thinking I would NEVER be able to match her move for move. Well, I can now. (Except on skaters, but she is FAST and she does that to me on purpose lol). Strength training helps with agility!
As far as until you get there, just do what you can, full range of motion, at your own pace. Form>speed, and speed will come.0 -
I am continuing to ramp up my strength training and I think that as my leg strength improves, I will be able to move faster.0
