Tired of seeing praise for under-eating!

Anyone else tired of seeing their newsfeed filled with people praising others for coming in under their calorie goal for the day? It's boring the pants off me, especially as a follower of the 'eating for future you' method. There seems to be a massive culture of this on MFP and I think the way MFP is set up is to blame for encouraging it. I never post my diary completion as the last thing I want people telling me how awesome it is that I didn't eat enough.

Rant over.

I would prefer it to say - and was withn xlb of their goal. because being within a few calories is either way is good, but being hundreds either way is bad.

I'd rather come in 10 over than 500 under, but it's the 500 under that will get the Well Done comments.

    Exactly, that's the problem!

How about the "praise" or encouragement from MFP regarding where you would be in 5 weeks if you kept up that day's calorie level each day.

Doesn't take long for someone to see, oh, if I undercut my suggested goal calories by 250, MFP actually says I'll be at a goal weight faster. Guess I'll try for 250 less all the time.
I guess not realizing that is 250 less than the goal that is already probably 250-500 less than a safe useful level.
  • Heybales, I totally agree! And I was doing exactly that in the beginning, enjoying seeing how much I could potentially lose by undercutting my calories. I really think some of these settings need to be improved as they can be very misleading!

i've been under by several hundred calories the past couple days and NO ONE is saying way to go to me on my statuses! they did say it when i came in like 10 calories under, but even yesterday someone asked if i was still finding it hard to eat enough most days.

and yes, it is. it's not a thought out planned thing either. i just kinda is what it is. not good at all!!!!! i'm in the 600 range right now and it's almost 4p where i live. i'm not hungry. at all. i will aim to hit my goal between now and 7p if i can. and if i can't i won't work out again tonight.
