Hello everyone! Was wondering if you guys log your driving activities and if it makes a difference with step count/calorie burn.

I don't log it. Not sure how it would affect the totals. Maybe if you searched the forums it would have something about it. Never really thought about it...0

Sound a bit like a geek but I do like to analyze what I do
Today I drove to work with the fitbit on the passenger seat and then when I drove home I had it on my hip. From the data gathered here it looks like you should have it on your hip. There was 10mins difference in travel time and a slightly different route but not enough I believe to influence the data. I will note down the data again tomorrow for my trip and see how it goes, though will wear both ways on my hip.
What I gather from this is that steps/floors/kms show higher if not on your person, but the calories show not too much difference if you wear it or not.
To work – FITBIT sitting loose on passenger seat
Travel time 43mins
1st reading/Destination reading
1147/2319 Steps - Difference = 1172
0.75/1.51 Kilometers - Difference = 0.76
1094/1179 Calories - Difference = 85
0/16 Floors - Difference = 16
From work – FITBIT on hip
Travel time 33mins
1st reading/Destination reading
10253/10308 Steps - Difference = 55
6.70/6.73 Kilometers - Difference = 0.03
2015/2065Calories - Difference = 50
27/28 Floors - Difference = 1
After adjusting on FitBit site to allow for the driving times.
1st reading/2nd reading
10337/9099 Steps - Difference = 1238
6.75/5.94 Kilometers - Difference = 0.81
2079/2073 Calories - Difference = 6
29/12 Floors - Difference = 170 -
I found the best place to have your fitbit while driving is in your bra. Does not affect it too much at all. Sometimes you might get a floor or two but otherwise the data stays quite constant.0
