I Need Coke Classic

I'm getting some pressure to give up my sole vice, a can a Coke Classic every day at lunch. I've gone from 4 or 5 cans per day down to 1 per day in the past year. I've tried Coke Zero and Diet Coke. YUCK! That Coke is like my little daily reward, and from my perspective, I could do a lot worse--like starting to smoke so I don't drink the Coke.

My dr. says that I've made significant progress with the Coke habit and she's ok with 1 per day. Those in my exercise class tell me to dump it. I don't believe in deprivation but rather moderation. I feel like I will be depriving myself if I don't drink the darn Coke at lunch. If I cut it out completely, I know myself well enough to know that I'll end up back in the 4 - 5 can range.

Not sure what my question is here. Just venting, I guess.

You need to treat yourself and really how much calories are in the coke? I say if you earned it in your exercise, you can treat yourself. Great job on getting down to just one can a day!

One can a day isn't much. Depends on whether keeping this will lead to you wanting more. I hear what you say about diet coke though - although I am not a habitual coke drinker, I always opt for "normal" coke if I have to drink it.
  • Just fit it into your calories. I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner and I'm not giving it up for anybody. I just make sure I can fit it in. And I agree - Fat coke tastes soooooo much better than diet or zero.

maybe cut it in half and add some plain seltzer to pump it up.. then it is just not as intense in cals or sugars..

I buy the 90 calorie little cans and that's all I'm allowed. I get my caffeine mostly from coffee anyway. Either way, Coke isn't great for you. I try to mix it up with organic colas that have similar tastes and none of the corn syrup which is addictive.
