Wow, they are totally beating up the John Carter movie - not sure why - I really enjoyed it - it amused me - plus, I want the dog!

My husband I were talking about going, but didn't get a chance. He was telling me that the sales are pretty poor considering the fact that they spent $500 million in production. Our local theater is showing it in 3-D IMAX, so we will still probably go check it out because it seemed like a cool movie to see in IMAX.
I'm glad to hear someone liked it, I'll definitely pass that on to the hubby so he won't feel as bad about buying tickets.0 -
i saw it...
and i want that dog too!
it wasn't amazing though, just okay, I saw it in 3d for free so i can't really complain0 -
I haven't seen it yet, but just from the commercials the dog reminds me of my pitbull. Big melon head. Utterly happy. Bouncing all over the place.0

Our local reviewer actually liked it, I am in shock.
I don't pay attention to scifi or action movie reviews a lot. Reviewers seem to want everything to be the next Gone With the Wind.0 -

That's true. Well, I don't know about Gone with the Wind, but you really can't trust what reviewers say about action, sci-fi, or children's movies, either. They don't seem to get that not every movie is out to be Oscar bait, some of them are just meant to entertain.0 -

I don't pay attention to movie reviews at all. I'll see what I want to see, no matter what a reviewer says. I love action and horror movies and those genres normally get ****ty reviews.0 -

I know - my taste of movies and "critic's" choice of movies are normally completely different - if they don't like it, the odds are I will love it.
John Carter is a sci-fi movie, it isn't a blockbuster. Most sci-fi's start slow and gain momentum. This was worth seeing and it just annoys me when I read all the bad press because it didn't get the mega opening weekend so they say it's crap. It entertained me, it had me and my friends laughing, the effects were good - the guy is great eye candy mmmm - and I still want the dog!0 -
Absolute crap! The movie was total bollocks, it bastardized the US Army, portraying them as blood thirsty killers who use extortion as a form of conscription.
The movie WAS NOT John Carter as Burroughs wrote it. You could write a list of what was in the movie and in the book on the back of a match book.0
