Diet changes during training

Do any of you change the way you eat while training for a big race? I've been reading a lot about how you should eat and I just want some real opinions on it.
I'm training for a half, but I'm struggling with my weight again. I've gained 6-8lbs since a car accident where I hurt my back in December. I'm just now getting back to running and still struggling to get out there 3 days a week, but the days I do I'm having a mental block.
Any advice?

    I followed the book Racing Weight and lost my final 10 lbs while training for my last half. I then was able to maintain it through the entire training period.
