Best Date EVER

I had the best date ever on Sunday!! We live about 2 hours away from each other, so we decided to meet in the middle. We chose a beach area... ok I chose a beach area..... so there would be plenty of activities to keep us entertained. We had never met in person before so this was our initial meeting. In the first 10 minutes there was a small amount of nervous energy, but we quickly got past that.
We spent the day walking around the beach, lucky for us it was a beautiful day
We walked and talked... we strolled with our feet in the water and we even found a rock shaped like a heart
.
In the evening we went to a great little place for dinner. They sat us in a cozy booth so we got to sit right next to each other. We decided to each order something that we both liked, so that we could share. We enjoyed some great food. I think my food enjoyed me as well because it decided to jump off my plate and splatter across my shirt... he missed this happening but saw the after affect which we both laughed about
After dinner we walked back down to the beach and found a nice quiet place overlooking the moonlit beach where we talked and cuddled... the time seemed to stand still!!
We had such a great day, I didn't want it to end.
The date was perfect... it was the best date I have ever been on.... but I don't think it was activities that made it so special... it was the person that made this so amazing!! I'm going to have to pay the butterflies in my stomach overtime for this night!!

I love giving people the best dates ever
You're correct though in saying it's the company not the date that makes it. You could have a date spend 20k on you on one date but if it's all awkward it's still not good!
That said one of my faves was a 3rd, La Amazona knows more details but I did the full wine and dine at one of the best restaurants around, booked a suite in one of the best hotels, room service 4x with bottles of champagne..the works! One of the best nights of both of our lives I'm going to say! It's the ones that stick in the memory that are the best!

I love reading stuff like this! I guess I am a hopeless romantic.
Was this date with someone you met on MFP? If so, I think I know who...
Congrats and good luck this weekend.0 -

And now we have drama...

Glad the date went well. I would not call my date last night the best date ever. The 2 hour distance thing could be difficult going forward. I usually don't like to regularly date anyone that lives more than 20 minutes from me. I know where gas prices are going and the further someone is from me, the harder to schedule. The harder to schedule, the less inclined both sides are to pursue it.0

Dude! Buzz kill! Sometimes Ms./Mr. Right isn't the next door neighbor.0 -

Or sometimes the more fireworks when you do get to be together0 -

LOL! I l would like Ms. Right to be next door to me. It'd be really convenient. Convenience matters to me, but I may overweigh that factor. The Dallas area is so huge though.0 -
How amazing!!!0

I've shared this before but I have a friend whose bf lives in Sweden. They're madly in love and they talk/ skype every single day. They visit each other every 2-3 months at the longest.
She says their visits are ultra steamy. (uh, I bet!!!)
He will be moving to the U.S to be with her later this year.0 -

Convenience aside, any butterflies?0 -
I'm not a fan of long distance relationships, but 2 hours is not a big deal, especially when it was the best date EVER
It can also serve as a test to see if both parties like each other enough to keep seeing each other despite the distance.0 -

I commute an hour to work each day so living 2 hours away would be non issue for me, and they have places they can meet in the middle. Unless I live in a metro area 20 mins is almost impossible to achieve.0 -

An hour in each direction? That's a hard commute. I prefer short commutes as they are better for my psyche.
2 hours away is outside my comfort zone as once you get past the 3-5 date threshold, I want to see the person like 3x a week. Not gonna happen with that distance.0 -
Awwwww sounds wonderful
do let us know how the second best date has gone :bigsmile:0 -

Yep I take the bus so I can read or take a nap instead of wasting my own gas and having to sit in rush hour traffic. I also live in one state and work in another. I grew up in the country where it was a half hour just to get to school. Even when I lived in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St Paul) I had friends that lived in the metro area and they were an hour away.
That being said 2 hours would be my limit as I have done the long distance thing too many times already and want someone I can actually see.0 -
awww! Keep us updated!0
