My Goals

A little something about myself and my goals. I am 73 year old widow who needs to lose 100 pounds. I was always going on diets seems like. I have tried just about all of them , some did work but I would eventually sabatogue myself and go back to my old habits. I always had a family to cook for and enjoyed cooking. I use to cook the big old southern meals and when my sons grew up and moved away I still cooked as we were always having someone stop by and eat. We used to have family barbeques inviting family and friends , so eating was a big part of life. Now that the boys are gone and my husband has passed I don't cook often , just eat fast foods and junk foods. Filling up on all those goodies but bad for weight loss. Then when I do cook a meal I am still cooking like I have a big family and so I tend to overeat. I may bake brownies and will eat them all that day. Make a cake or pie and do the same. Seems like if it tastes good I can't stop eating. I need to learn how to cook and fix healthy meals for one and eat desserts with moderation.
I have realized I do need to take care of myself as I have gained too much and have never had any major health issues with the exception of breast cancer. I don't want any either so I am starting this weight loss journey again and hopefully I will succeed this time.
I want to lose about 15 pounds a month if possible. I want to be able to and get in the habit of exercising.

Try to go to salads, that way when you feel out of control you can eat as much as you want without the guilt. I learned when i make salad if you salt it and let it set the salt pulls the juices out of the veggies and you dont need near as much dressing. Makes a huge difference.

I love salads so that is a good idea. I usually go to Wendys tho and buy their Apple Pecan Chicken Salad. But can't afford those every day. LOL Thanks for the tip about adding salt and letting the salad sit . I do like a lot of dressing so that will be a big help.

I always put my dressing in a lttle cup and just dip the tines of my fork in it before I get each bite. When I am done I have had dressing with every bite and almost none is gone from the cup.
