Just wondering if anyone here has strong, muscular legs but chubby arms, seemingly no matter what you do? ...and if you were able to get great guns what did you do? I've been working free weights but not too heavy. If I flex I notice a difference but no real tone otherwise. I also have the flabby wings that have a life of their own when i wave.

Guess I just want hope that I can get strong looking arms that match my legs and looking for tips on getting there.

Lifting but not too heavy....there is the problem, go to about 85% of your capacity with each lift & see how far above 8 reps you can go before fail. I was doing dumbell, vipr & kettlebell for months but at low weights with only a minor improvement in my arms, 3 weeks ago I started a lifting program going as heavy as I could (which isn't very heavy compared to some) & have already increased the weights by 5kgs & my arms have totally changed, in both shape, definition & tone.

If you are going to lift at all, go has heavy as you can. I really does work.

Thanks for the reassurance and sharing your experience. I have to admit that lifting is not something I've been consistent with or know a lot about. I'm a little intimidated by the machines so I tend to go with the free weights. I'll do some research and change to heavier weights.

    Cheers,

Yes!! When I was lifting heavy my whole body looked different. I slacked off for about 7 months and boy can I definitely see how effective lifting heavy definitely was. I'm starting back tomorrow.

I lift as heavy as possible. I fail around my 8th, 9th or 10th rep. I follow the CharLean Extreme dvd program. Its really been effective.

I absolutely hate my arms. I'm starting to work on them by lifting a little heavier for shorter reps. I think that a diary would help me keep track!

"Wings" tend to be a trouble spot for women meaning that's one of the last places to lose fat. Lift heavy, eat a caloric deficit and continue losing fat. You won't start to see definition until you lose more body fat and the more you lift, the more you burn since muscle burns more calories than fat. Check out New Rules of Lifting for Women to help learn proper lifts, form and caloric needs if you don't feel confident in your current level of knowledge.
