I thought maybe some of us that had started reading the comic would enjoy discussing it. BEWARE!! if you only watch the show I would not read or participate in this thread. The comic and the show are basically similar but how and when some things happen do no always match up.
That being said...I would like this thread to only discuss what happens during Issues 1-48. This is what I have read and what Book 1 of the Compendium covers.
Here's a topic to get us started. - I now know who the "governor" is and boy is he a sicko! Was he a pedaphile or was that child zombie his daughter?

You should read "The Rise of the Governor" book. It is the Governors backstory. Basically tells about who he was before and how he came to be what he is in the comics. It also explains the whole story of the zombie girl he was keeping. Its a real good read and is very suprising in the end.0

Thanks for the recommendation! I will look it up.0 -

Of course it's a complicated answer now if you consider the Rise of the Governor book, but for all intents and purposes, if you only ever read the comic, that was his daughter. Sorry to be cryptic, but even if you read the novel, it doesn't make a difference of what the idea of him keeping her is supposed to convey. "His daughter" is what I believed for years.
So for all his shortcomings, they weren't trying to say he was a pedophile.0 -

I asked the pedophile question because of the way he kissed her in the comic. It seemed........weird. LOL0 -
Kissing a zombie in any manner is weird!
I thought I have been having, is the show intentionally trying to make Lori an unlikable character so they can be true to the comic regarding her fate at the end of the prison?0 -
I am inclined to believe you may be right on that. I am betting she bites the dust at the end of next season. My only question is, will they take it to the level it was in the comic or will Rick go back for the baby. I was kind of surprised he didn't try in the comic. Were we suppose to believe the fall killed the baby?0

I always thought the bullet went through both Lori and the baby. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it. My books are always out on loan to someone, so i can never check.
I was always wondering if the show would kill off the leading lady. I also wondered if they show would show Carl kill Shane, or if a kid killing a (live) person on tv is still "taboo." Not that it should be with all the stuff they get away with, but they did switch it up some from the comic to the show with having Carl kill The Zombie Shane and I am not sure if that was just to surprise the comic fans, or if there is still something against that.0
