Honest Question, looking for an honest answer. My Proile picture on here was on a dating site. Does anyone think that it looks like I am trying to hide something?

Personally a phone in a mirror pic is not my favorite but understand it is the easiest and only option a person often has.
Forgetting about that the answer is no,I can see what you look like (which is very nice) so I don`t think it hides anything.

    Two things:
    1) Like Carl explained, the mirror deal is never a good choice.
    2) I always thing full body pictures should be shot outside, while you're doing something you enjoy. Natural sunlight seems to make pictures seem so much better.

Well to be honest beside it being a mirror picture it shows your messy bedroom behind you which can be a turn off to some people.

no, I dont think you're hiding anything, but I dont think its a very natural picture either.

I think you should add another natural, face shot

Only a woman would notice that! ;-)

Honestly speaking, if I'm on dating websites and it's a photo of someone taking a mirror pic of themselves, I buzz right by it. You look great but either take it with a normal camera on a stand or select another photo.

I've got to agree with everyone else, self shots in the mirror aren't the most flattering. Pick a gorgeous picture where it is visible you are having fun and enjoying yourself!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice. I did have other pictures of outside activities and such but it was a strange comment that was made about this picture in particular. Just threw me off.

Same here... I have started taking my camera everywhere now and take pics in the oddest of places but I always have a good shot on hand.

I don't try to hide my messy bedroom. It's who I am. I clean it when I get tired of it.

Might as well be honest in my pics.

I look horrible on pictures, but I suppose I would increase the likelihood of having a good picture by taking 1000s of them... Can't be asked though to bring a camera everywhere and ask people for a pic. Tssss...

The whole thing about the picture was mainly because I dont even care if they have a picture. I have went out with guys without even seeing what they look. I am more into getting to know someone for their insides and am not superficial. I read all their profiles and respond on things they have said in them. Not what was in their picture. Yes physical attraction is one thing but a mental connection will cause me to be physically attracted.
It goes back to, I want someone to want me, not just anyone. That includes my flaws and smartass attitude at times. Oh, and my messy room.

You are not in the majority then. The majority of people on dating sites will not even look at profiles with out pictures. Most people want to know the whole package on dating sites before even going for coffee which means both personality and looks.

Guys might not mind them, but for me it's a turn-off! I think of how many girls they just send that pic lol.

Well, thanks for the kind words, but that's because the only pics people are allowed to see are the "OK" ones (out of the 100s I have).
But for some reason, I look extremely crap on pics. Even ignoring the body language, I think something must be lost in the process of flattening my image... (and over inflated ego)

I read an article about "looking good on pictures" because it's so annoying to me to never have a good pic it's becoming ridiculous!
Did anyone work on their pose? (as in: worked on their smile/position/best profile etc. in front of a mirror so that they increase their chance of having good pictures)
I read that in my article, but it felt a bit silly  (but I might just be ignorant!)

    You're too cute!

My best angle is when I look slightly to the right lol. Although the looking forward angle looks well sometimes.
As far as body is concerned, well I don't really pose per say. I just make a wish beforehand that bod will come out okay.

    Agreed!!! :flowerforyou:

I once met a girl who set the picture up she wanted to take of us together. (Her husband took them). She was SO into the right light, the right angle, the right position, she put her hand on her hip, held her chin up, her eyes down.........etc, O>M>G it took maybe 10 minutes to set up one photo!!! I must admit, I was a bit shocked by this!!

But yeah, ego is a funny old thing!

I think we all prefer to look good in pictures though!! Like you, I could take 100 pictures of myself (with a timer on camera or self portrait with phone) and only like 1 of them. (Perhaps you should try this exercise ;) I've tried looking in the mirror and having the same kind of smile, but you know, every picture is captured differently!! I really dont understand it. Cos I can look in the mirror, take the picture and think to myself "I'm sure I didnt just look like that!!"

So, my only answer is, keep the flattering one's, and discard the others!!
