Alright I am looking for a netbook or a laptop for college. I am not computer savvy, so I have no clue what kind of computer I am looking for. I am looking for something cheap, that can play video game like Diablo III or Guild Wars 2 if I want, and play DVDs( I know a netbook cannot, but you can buy the accessories to make it). Also I had something on the small side in mind, like the biggest I want is a 15.6". Any feedback would be great!

if you want to play those games, avoid netbooks like the plague. Netbooks are only good for browsing/word processing when space is extremely limited.

I was pricing new systems last week looking primarily at Dell machines (have had great customer service with them across 5 systems), there was an XPS system and Alienware system I liked. The XPS was cheaper, and spec wise it was better than Alienware in a lot of categories.

Dell sucks HORRIBLY. I honestly would recommend that you stay away from DELL, forever.

I would recommend building your own system and if you can't then at least buy an Asus but don't waste your money on Alienware or Dell.

I would suggest shopping around for a decent 15" notebook and find one that meets your needs, peoples computer preferences are like car preferences so don't necessarily go by that. The 2 areas that you will need to be concerned with for gamin will be processor speed and the video card. Unless you are going to buy a high end gaming computer I would look for one with a better processor i5 or i7. To start with I would look at what the local stores have on sale and do some searches on them on a site like cnet or consumer reports. The last laptop I helped my room mate buy was a 15" hp which he loves and work great... I do agree with other posters stay away from netbooks the screen sizes are usually small and hard to see and by the time you buy any add ons you might as well bought a laptop...

I love Asus components and they are a favorite of some other staff in my office, but their laptops are huge and I don't want to lug a behemoth around with me.
