Anyone have a short parent that just doesn't "get it"?

My mom is 5' tall, I'm just a hair under 6'. She just doesn't get it and to this day it can still frustrate me to no end!
I haven't told her my real weight in years, she was always shocked to hear my weight when I was a kid. When I told her how much weight I've lost she was shocked and said, "I can tell you've lost some, it just doesn't look like you've lost that much."
Shopping with her can be a struggle as well since she can't relate to my clothing frustrations and doesn't quite get that I can't just go up a size (she's not heavy either) to magically make things fit.
I love her to death, she's my mom! But sometimes, aghhhhh!

My mom used to be like this. She's probably 5'4" and I'm 6' even. It took her a while, but she doesn't make little comments anymore. She understands that I will NEVER be below 150 lbs and probably never a size 6. When she realized how great I look right now in size 10 jeans, I think it finally hit her. Just keep your head high! I know it gets frustrating, but as long as you're healthy and you look and feel great, that's what really matters! She may never fully understand but it's important that YOU do.0 -
Short? No. But my Mom is 5'9" and never weighed OVER 150#- small frame. Although she's always been active- I've never known her to purposely do exercise- she just moves constantly being a busy body. I passed 150# at 10 years old...
She wears an A cup, I wear an F. To sum it up- she's never related well to my body type. It is frustrating!!!0 -
My mom is short and has a fantastic metabolism. She is around 5'1" now and weighs 98 lbs. Years she spent trying to nicely tell me I weigh too much. Even now she thinks my weight should be around 150. At 5'10" and a large frame, I don't think I'll look healthy at 150. She stopped bringing it up a long time ago, after many arguments. But she did tell me last week she could see the weight coming off.0

Luckily, even though mine is lucky if she's 5'4, she's always been on the heavy side. In January I weighed one pound less than she did and I'm 6'0. Now I'm 2 pounds lighter at 159 and very close to goal and she's got 20ish more pounds to go. She's always told me I was fine, even at a 26 BMI and almost a size 16. I'm now a very healthy 22 BMI and a size 8. Now I'm too skinny. Which I'm so not. I'm where I'm supposed to be.0
