Favorite unrefined sugar?

I made my first loaf of vegan wheat bread today, it's pretty good....BUT it had me use stevia in the raw. I had some on hand and couldn't stand it in my coffee or tea so I figured I'd use it up. Well I can still taste it in the bread. I had to add some butter to the top to kill the taste (I'm not fully vegan yet). What is a good unrefined sugar without that gross aftertaste?
