I just read this:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/252838/playstation_4_is_codenamed_orbis_may_restrict_secondhand_games.html

Seriously?!?!?! They want to lock down our systems so that we can't swap games with each other?!?!?! This is ridiculous! I like services like GameFly! I like going to GameStop and looking for a good used game that I wouldn't have bought at full-price! Ugh. If they go through with this, I may abandon Sony gaming forever.

The resolution on the Orbis sounds pretty insane. I'd be surprised if anyone in the world owns a TV or monitor that supports that kind of resolution. I doubt my eyes would be able to tell the difference.

That's even more retarded than the whole "PSN games can only be run on two systems" that we deal with now. I own two PS3s, and I thought about getting a third, but once they changed that license, they lost that sale.

I haven't run Windows since 2002, but I think the PS3 is possibly the last console I will buy... Since the Wii/DS setup is already this for downloaded games (unless there's a way to transfer to another system that they added in the 3-4 years since I stopped playing Wii), and I am sure Microsoft isn't going to step in and be the savior here - besides that, I HATE the Xbox controllers. ALL of them.

Gaming PC plus Steam is sounding pretty good right about now, but I don't know... I really hate Microsoft's OS. Are there games on Mac yet? If Valve ever did that Steambox thing, I'd probably go that route.

As for the resolution, are we sure that means actual res, rather than maybe dual HDMI output? I didn't read the article... The PS3 was originally supposed to support dual HDMI output - and it was supposed to have a TV tuner and DVD burner and built-in router/hub... Lots of stuff didn't actually happen.

I am 99% sure I won't buy this new system, unless something drastic changes and it allows me to play all of my PS3 and PSN games. If not, Sony can suck it. I'll buy a couple PS3s and put them in storage for when my current ones break down, and that's the end of my console experience.

The Xbox 720 has been rumored to have the same concept - not allowing 2nd hand gaming. If Sony decides to do this, you can thank Microsoft for that wonderful idea.

They had to do that since people were taking advantage of it, my friends have PS3's (I do too but I have a 360 so it just collects dust) and they used to buy it on one account and then their friends would log into the account, download the game and own it for free. I think that was the correct call to make by sony.

Sony has given and then taken away far too much for me to not be annoyed by them.
