Too Old For MMORPG?

its the same with Rift, people are so very nice, helpful, friendly, etc there, as opposed to other mmo's where the most rude answer wins
I was going to try Rift but a lot of my friends did Beta and got bored really fast so I never did. But isn't that atmosphere nice? I mean, you'll always get trolls (now that I switched to a larger server I see more of them), but it's great when a bad group of people is a rarity.
yeah ive had friends get bored too, but i love world raiding/pvp (and the giant invasions) so much that we go back every few months. and yes, great when ppl are nice and helpful, and are friendly if you try to be helpful.0 -

It started many years ago, when Everquest was the game to play. Every evening was basically a family reunion as my sister, brother-in-law, nephew, niece, my mother and I would spend the evenings in different cities, fighting orcs and trolls. After the prices kept climbing, we eventually resorted to the free games - Rappelz, Shiaya, then finally Perfect World.
Most of us are still playing and it is a great way to keep in touch. I'm 50 and a Lvl 84 Archer, but my mother is 70 and a level 101 Cleric and an 84 Barbarian(tank). When her grandkids can't be present for a dungeon quest, she will sometimes run as many as 4 characters at once using two pc's. She is one of the leaders on a guild and is in quite the demand. Unfortunately she is quiet about her age as she feels no one would want to play with a grandma.
My grandmother had Alzheimer's disease, and I believe the lack of mental exercise might have made the issue worse. I have no doubt that my mother is keeping her mind mentally alert. I've tried to play her cleric and keep a full squad healed, and I don't see how she does it, especially while playing a tank with the other hand on a different PC.
No one is too old to play. I really wish my mother-in-law did. It would give her something to do, other than call me in the middle of a quest, and it would be fun to trick her into PVP mode and watch her run.... :laugh:0 -
I actually enjoy playing with older people. Way less nerd raging to deal with.0

I don't care about how old a player is as long as they can play their class, listen to directions (like during raids), and doesn't whine about everything. I have played with people in their 60's and kids in their low teens. Honestly, I have had more issues with the kids (and their parents) then I have ever had with older players.
I once belonged to a guild that didn't allow kids to join under the age of 18 (unless a parent petitioned and agreed on specific issues). We were an adult guild and we used adult language and sometimes talked about things not suitable for kids. This was well known and perspective members were always warned about this. So, it should not have been a shock to see swearing and other things in guild chat. Well, we had a member complain about the language one day because "sometimes her 7 year old child likes to sit in her lap and play." Needless to say, she was laughed at and the guild leader told her to turn on the filter (this is EQ btw which has a built in language filter) or leave. His wording was something to the effect of "This is an adult guild. You knew this when you joined and agreed to it. It is not the guild's responsibility to censor itself because you have decided to allow your child to play in your lap. That is your job as a parent. These is a wonderful thing called a filter that you can turn on if you wish. Otherwise, you can deal or leave. We will not ask our members to change for one person."
Ahhh... sometimes I miss those days.0
