Clomid

I am 27 and have been TTC for 5 years, my doctor did ovarian drilling before trying anything else (including telling me that I had PCOS, told me at my post-op). I am trying to lose some weight and I am now on Clomid and have gone through one cycle, didn't do anything so my doctor is now telling me to double up. Does anyone have any advice for me on side effects from doubling up, my doctor kinda has me flying blind here, he is a more of a "do what I say, and don't ask any questions" kinda of doctor and quite frankly I am tired of being surprised.

Did he even tell you about Metaformin and the PCOS diet? I did it and got pregnant without Clomid. If I don't get pregnant again by December, I will be walking the Clomid walk.0

My doctor is 100% backwards! He first told me that he wanted to do exploratory surgery to check the health of my uterus and ovaries and to unblock one of my tubes. After my surgery he left me a note that he unblock my tube, removed some endrometrosis and that everything in there was healthy. At my post-op he told me that he also did ovarian drilling, and then told me he did that because I had PCOS, and when I asked him about PCOS he just told me that is was polycystic ovarian syndrome. Nothing about what it is, what it means, what kind of diet, nothing!!!
I went home thinking everything was fine until I checked it up when I got home and then I was really upset at my doctor for not explaining anything and when I saw him at my next appointment he still was not interested in explaining anything about PCOS and when I asked him why he did the ovarian drilling he just said "because usually that is all you need"
So I am on my own, I know one other person with PCOS and she has no interest in doing anything about it.0 -
Well, you have me. Ask anything you want. I was formally diagnosed in 2005/early 2006, my Mom had been telling me I had it for years. Anything you need to know, I can help you with. I've learned a lot over the years. P.S. I have a two year old I conceived without Clomid....0

Thanks I actually know quite a bit about PCOS. I have done a lot of reading on it, talked to my family doctor, currently waiting to talk to a cronic disease nutritionist. I have actually figure out how to get my period back through diet but I don't ovulate at all so my doctor put me on clomid. Since he told me to double the dose I was hoping to hear any side effects they had go through.0

Check back on some of the threads. I put on here the diet that the dietitian put me on that made me ovulate and have periods again.0

I'm currently taking the "Clomid Challenge" which will determine if I need to start taking it at the beginning of my next cycle. My sister has taken clomid several times, and what they do is start you off on the lowest dose, then work you up. Example: starting at 25mg, then 50, then 100, then 150... I'm not sure how high it goes, but I think your doc is just telling you he is going to up your dose. He sounds like a real tool though to be honest.
I was just diagnosed with PCOS a few weeks ago, (though I have suspected it for many years now) and am trying to regulate the symptoms myself through diet and exercise. I'm hoping I don't have to take Clomid since my sister was nuts when she was taking that stuff! I have also been able to conceive my two children without fertility meds I think mainly because I wasn't so heavy.
I have also started taking Fertility Blend which contains Vitex, an herbal supplement that can help with regulating ovulation and menstrual cycles. (my cycles are around 45-50 days long). Mainly, I am just trying whatever I can!0 -
The double dose of clomid worked for me this month my doctor called me yesterday and told me that my progestrone was at a really good number and in a week if my cycle don't restart then to try a pregnancy test! *fingers crossed*0

So, I'm about to start Clomid in a few days, (hopefully Tuesday:-) and am wondering how y'all deal with the side effects if you have any??? We're currently ttc our 3rd child and I no longer seem to ovulate, so now it's time for some help. I was just curious as to how the Clomid makes you feel mentally and physically. My in-laws are coming into town and I would like to know how much of my attitude will be based off of the drugs vs. in-laws:-)0

The first 2 months I didn't really feel any side effects, I just finished my third cycle and on my third day my mother and older sister figured it would be a good idea to make fun of the fact I couldn't get pregnant and my younger sister was. I ended up crying for 2 days (I work face to face with customers and couldn't get anyone to cover for me so, that was fun) and when I confront my mother about how inappropriate she was she didn't want to listen to me and just screamed at the top of her lungs "PEOPLE HAVE BABIES DEAL WITH IT!" and she also yelled at me not to talk to her anymore. So for the past couple of days I have been having uncontrollable outbursts of cry, fits of rage, and a constant feeling of adrenaline (so sleeping is almost impossible). Actually if the adrenaline feeling doesn't go away here by Monday I am going to call my specialist. Now whether the clomid has anything to do with that I am not really sure, probably, I am on a double dose.0

I had success with clomid!!!
I did clomid for 5 cycles, I am 27 and have known about having PCOS for about 1.5 years.
1 cycle - single dose (50mg) - no ovulation
2 cycle - double dose (100mg) - ovulation, no pregnancy
3 cycle - double dose (100mg) - no ovulation
4 cycle - triple dose (150mg) - ovulation, no pregnancy
5 cycle - triple dose (150mg) - ovulation, PREGNANT
It took me 5 years, 5 local doctors, 2 specials, BBT charting, day counting, blood tests, a small fortune spent on ovulation kits, pregnancy tests, thousands of kilometers on my car and hours of research.
If you are taking clomid keep in mind that one of the side affects that many don't know about or hear about is that clomid can cause a woman's mucus to become hostile towards sperm. I had a feeling that this might of been my issue. Instead of going to the doctor and have a bunch of tests done to confirm my suspicions I just tried the solution.
The solution to hostile mucus is REALLY simple, you take Robitussin 3 times a day, starting the day after day 5 of taking the clomid until ovulation.
Look into it for yourself, but it worked for me I am currently 5 weeks pregnant!0 -
Congrats!!! Gives me hope! I'm probably starting clomid within the next month!0

Congrats! I have a year or two before i want to start TTC but I've heard that clomid can be used. This is great to hear an acedoctal story of it working, dosing and time frame.
Thanks so much and congrats again on your pregnancy!0 -
I have been keeping up with these posts and was wondering if anyone has used preseed or softcups while on Clomid and if this helped with the side effects? I start my first round in about a week and am very nervous. My husband and I have been trying for 16 months and have miscarried twice in the last year. My doctor put me on Metformin three months ago to help with my PCOS symptoms but it has not helped. I have gained forty pounds during this whole experience so if anyone has any advice on weight loss with PCOS I am open to suggestions....I have lived a fairly healthy life over the past four years and exercise on average 30-45 minutes a day, taking in 1300-1600 calories a day depending on my workouts, I'm feeling very lost.
Thanks for any advice0
