Sore Muscles Question

In replying to another thread, I thought of a question.
If you are "toning and sculpting" or lifting weights, etc...if you are NOT sore the next day, is it working?
The reason I ask is because don't you have to stress your muscles in order for them to change? I always thought that you should "feel" something in order for it to be working.

Honestly I'm sure if it's working or not, but I do know that I like to have a little soreness after a strength training session. To me that says that I did something and that it's working. Now if it's intense soreness where you can't workout the next day that is too much stress for the body. Just my two cents0
