I'm curious what you all have been eating to lose weight. How many calories do you usually consume also?

I've have been trying to eat more veggies/fruits. I've been having yogurts for breakfast with a mandarin usually. I also like to make wraps for lunch.

    We're...supposed to eat?

    Shiiiiiiiiii.....

I used to eat more diet-y type foods (cottage cheese and fruit, etc) but now I pretty much just eat whatever. The only two things I do that are different is that I try to emphasize protein, so I eat meals that are more protein centric, eat my protein before my carbs, and try not to overeat.

So like I pretty much cut out snacks and treats and candy - not ENTIRELY but I have them less often because its 'empty" calories that I don't usually have available.

But otherwise, yeah. Pretty much whatever. I eat a lot of of chipotle bowls and I'd eat a lot more panera salads if the panera was closer to me. I also eat a lot of breakfasty foods (eggs etc). I've made some subsitutions like dropping the sour cream and cheese from my chipotle, getting turkey sausage or bacon instead of pork sausage. etc etc.

I eat more calories now than when I started though which also gives me a lot of wiggle room for hte good stuff.

Hahaha, eating is such a burden, I know! :P

I love a good salad too. I have started eating spinach salads. I find spinach a lot yummier than lettuce. And I don't usually use more than a dime sized amount of dressing, preferably ranch. I wanna branch out and try new dressings though, healthier ones. Chicken salads are delicious also. I love cottage cheese for snacks with a little Splenda on it.

Trader joes has a raspberry vinaigrette that's very good on spinach. Fresh and easy has a low fat Caesar dressing (these are both refrigerated dressings) that is AMAZING .

Ooh that sounds yummy. I will have to look into that. I've also seen yogurt based dressings at my local grocery store. I've been wondering how healthy/good those would be.

I also have been a big fan of asparagus and zucchini since I started eating healthier.

The Bolthouse Farms brand is wonderful! I love their ranch and blue cheese. The thousand island was decent as well, but I only use that on reubens anyway so...

I also like Maple Grove Farms line of fat free/reduced fat dressings when it comes to vinaigrette flavors.

As for what I eat... well, I am an "everything in moderation" type of person. I keep on hand:
Baba Ganoush and Hummus with vegetables
Lots of fruit... both fresh and frozen since I often do smoothies for snacks or breakfast
Chicken Sausage, both breakfast and regular
    Greek Yogurt
"Basic" Salad fixings (romaine mix, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes)
    Flat Out Wraps
    Tuna Fish
Nuts of some sort... currently have almonds
    Popcorn
    Oatmeal
    Whole Wheat Bread
    Lean Ground Beef
    Steaks
    Chicken
    Salmon
    Tilapia
    Shrimp

    And a few other things.

And Asparagus and Zucchini are two of my favorite vegetables. Especially on the grill!

Sounds like you're eating some great things! I have seen the Maple Grove dressings recently, I will have to check them out. I love hummus! Mmm.

I have failed in the past with eating healthy because I buy a few foods to eat on a regular basis and then I get burned out. I am working on mixing it up and getting several things to play around with. The one thing I've loved about eating healthy is all the awesome stuff I've got to learn to make.

That is why I keep so much on hand. I get bored so easily and can not eat the same thing day in and day out. I try and do oatmeal at least 5x a week, but I switch it up. I love it with blueberries and brown sugar or bananas and a few dark chocolate chips. Or I mix in peanut butter and jelly if I have the extra calories.

I also love to cook and do all the cooking (unless I am ill). As such, I have been really trying a ton of new recipes, foods, and flavors. Most of my pinterest board is dedicated to healthier meals, sides, and the like.

I also mix up the fresh fruits I keep around. Right now I am addicted to grapes, but a couple of weeks ago it was pineapple. I will be SO happy when peaches come into a season and my strawberry and raspberry plants start to produce!

Do not get me started on Pinterest! Haha, I am so addicted to that site... I have so many recipes on there I've been trying and am going to try! :)

I love oatmeal so I got this baked oatmeal recipe off Pinterest, it's really awesome and delicious! It's also super convenient for on the go days. I made them in muffin cups and my boyfriend and I loved them. I added walnuts and blueberries to some and bananas to others. There are so many possibilities.

I have either the same or a similar recipe on one of my boards, but I have yet to try it. I really should for those mornings where I need something fast. Right now I just drink a smoothie.

That is another thing I keep on hand. Bolthouse Farms has a line of protein shakes and fruit smoothies. I keep a couple of each in the fridge. They are great for super fast mornings or if I need some more calories at the end of the day.

I looked up the Bolthouse website and it looks like the Safeway in town carries that brand. How much do the smoothies and shakes usually run, cost wise?

I've read that hot sauce and stuff like that is great for boosting your metabolism. :)
