Guys who are built...

So I've never before considered going out with a guy who's ripped, nice six pack, etc. First of all, guys that look like that don't come pounding down my door. I'm far from athletic looking (yet!). I've always (probably wrongly) assumed that they're in love with their body and looking for something similar in a woman. And I figured they're probably so into working out and eating nothing but health food that we probably wouldn't have anything in common.

Well, a guy on POF contacted me and wow, he is ripped! OMG he looks great! And he seems so down to earth and super sweet. We've been texting all weekend and have plans to meet next weekend. I'm totally terrified! I've never been out with someone who looked like that and I'm feeling a bit inferior in the looks department. I'm 40 lbs over weight! Yes, I have full length photos of me on there so it's not like he can't see what I look like. But, really?

So questions are this: For you ripped, buff guys out there, are you ever attracted to someone who's not the most physically fit? And what the heck can I do to convince myself not to stress the whole time that he's thinking he made a huge mistake in contacting me. I'm feeling like maybe he needs glasses. Or then again, maybe my self esteem is so low and that's why I'm shocked he'd be s interested.

UGH have I mentioned that dating again is stressful!

Chill out babe, dont give this guy any more of your nervous energy than any other guy!!

    Stereotypes are often wrong...........

But most importantly, is HE good enough for YOU!!!! :flowerforyou:

I feel ya girl! I like this hot, fit and I'm like super why about my unfitness, but he doesn't seem to mind...yet. Plus my lack of faith in the male species tells me as long as I have a vagina a man will be interested despite my squishiness.

As a buff, I feel I have to answer this question.

    ...

Anyway, he is obviously working out/taking care of his body by exercising so definitely something you guys should have in common.
I'm normally attracted to fit women, but it is not an obsession either and I can still be with a "not so fit" girl for other reasons.

Go there and see what happens. And stop stressing, it's not like it's the most important moment of your life.

First of all, I'm not ripped but I feel the need to interject here. Yes, it's possible that he looks differently than his pictures indicate, but it is more probable that he sees something about you that he likes so I wouldn't worry about it.

My self esteem sucks too, and I've gone out on plenty of dates with girls that were out of my league, but it never hurts to try.

Just go with it. If there's a really physically attractive guy into you, enjoy it!

    This!

Even if his pictures are accurate (they often aren't), and even if you're not where you wanna be weight wise, don't worry about it! Go have a good time being seen with a hot guy (who just might surprise you by being attracted to the heart displayed in your profile).

And if you start getting worried about whether he could possibly really like you or is he just looking for an easy target, step back, remember your tagline, "Starting over - creating a new ME!" and remember that the new you is FABULOUS and deserving of someone who makes you feel all giddy inside. If he turns out to be a jerk, so be it, but at least give it a chance... and have a good time!

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. Not all males are as superficial as its generally thought we are.

He might think you are gorgeous already

    agreed.

just because a guy (or girl) is hot doesnt mean they are a catch. plus for all you know, he might not even think he's that hot.

just enjoy the process, go on the date and get to know him, same as you would with any other guy

Being 40 lbs. overweight does not detract from your hotness. You are just curvy and lots and lots of guys like curvy. You are smart, beautiful, and absolutely worthy. Keep telling yourself that.

Just relax, and treat it like any other date. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thanks everyone! I Needed those reminders. I actually think that no matter how much weight I loose or how good I may end up looking once I finish loosing - I'll probably never feel that I look that great. Got to change my mindset I suppose.

Even if there's a trouble spot (or two or three), you can always find something about yourself that is fabulous (for example, you have a great smaile and pretty eyes). The more you focus on teh fabulous stuff, the less you stress on the works-still-in-progress. Then one day you'll look in the mirror and say, WOW, I look really good!
