Muscle weakness/fatigue

My muscles feel so worn-out. I don't know if it is from the MS or from the Betaseron or for being overweight (gaining an additional 20pounds after starting Betaseron and I was already overweight. Ugh). I can't tell anymore what is what since I'm new to all this.
I have to really pay attention to walking down stairs as my feet/ankles feel like they will give out (although they never have). I can't pop out of a living room chair either and if I squat down I better have something to put my hand against or on to help me up. I feel ancient and I'm only 47!!!!!
I take Excedrin migraine or tylenol all the time it seems and it only helps somewhat. Ibuprofen doesn't help at all. I would love to just take a nice, long, hot bath but I worry about being able to get out of the tub. I also read that I should avoid hot baths as it can exacerbate or flare up MS symptoms so I'm really trying to avoid baths even though I LOVE THEM!
I'm hoping once I lose 20-30 pounds most of this will go away. But I wonder if it will.
Anyone have suggestions on how to cope / eleviate / make better this muscle stuff?

Are you on any other Meds besides the BS? I think in your other post you mentioned that you have only been on it since Feb, which means you just hit full dose about 8 weeks ago?
The fatigue may be part of the BS. I remember it taking a few months to finally get acclimated to it. But I always felt like crap the day after my injection.
One thing that really helped me was Provigil. Its actually used to help treat narcolepsy - but alot of people on MS take it. You will read that scientific studies show that it does not help w/ Fatigue, but talking w/ people that are actually on it - it does wonders for fatigue and mental concentration. I will tell you straight up - that there is a big difference when Im on it or off it. Talk to your Doc and ask for a few day trial and see if it helps.0 -
You have no idea how thrilled I am to find this MS group~! I've learned more from this group today, than I have from my Neuro in the past 5 + years!!
RE: fatigue
I am tired all of the time, but I have never really thought about that as a symptom of my MS. I just blame it on being obese, or being a mom... maybe there is another reason after all~! ?????:yawn:0 -
I'm just on the Betaseron. Well, I also take the tylenol (actually acetaminophen) practically all the time it seems. I hadn't heard of Provigil. If this doesn't clear up after I've been on the full dose for 3 months or so, I'll have to ask my doc about it. Thanks so much for the info!!!!0
