First week, and the goal is to build the community.

Of course, you should be exercising and staying active, eating good foods and such, but the challenge for week 1 are:

1. Try to bring at least one person to the group

2. Read, and post, a health related article. Feel free to quote the part(s) you found most interesting. Tell us why!

This is an article about 20 foods that help lose weight.
The short list is - with my feelings on those foods.
Almonds - I don't have many of these due to a sensativity of nuts.
Apples - I'm not big on these fruits, I prefer melons
Black Beans - I think I will try and incororate these a bit into my diet.
Cauliflower - I include these raw with my lunch most every work week day.
Cinnamon - I didn't know about this one, and I'm not sure how to incorporate into my diet.
Coffee - I drink this enough. I've started to have more black coffee to not accumulate calories.
Cottage Cheese - We have this as part of our dressing on work day lunches.
Eggs - We usually have these on weekends more than anything else
Garlic - I add this to most recipes.
Lentils - My partner had these too much growing up, so we don't have them.
Olive Oil - I've mostly switched to Oilive oil when needed
Parmesan - This is a great added flavour without quite as many calories old cheddar
Pears - We have these when in season
    Portobello Mushrooms - I don't like mushrooms.
Quinoa - I have no idea what this is. I will look it up later.
Red Bell Peppers - Is also part of the week day salad lunch, and we freeze some for adding to quick recipes.
Tomatoes - Is also part of the week day salad lunch
Vinegar - We use a few different Basalmic vinegars here and there, but are trying to incorporate more.
Wild Salmon - Not one of our favorites.
Yogurt - Plain NF yogurt on toast with strawberries on top is my breakfast.

Found this and well, it fits. Amazing how much I (and other people) over think all this eh?

Quinoa is a super food that is a seed. You can eat them raw, or cook them to replace rice. Lots of good nutrients, but can be expensive... My housemate and I use it and Chia seed together :)

If you want to add cinnamon, might I suggest putting it in your coffee? It can add flavor without calories and help dull the black coffee flavor.

This is an INCREDIBLE eBook that a friend suggested to me. It's by body builder Tom Venuto. I'm only about 5 pages in but already it's got some excellent info. I can tell he's on the right track. So far, he is discussion the subconscious mechanisms involved in losing weight, the importance of goal setting and the power of positive thinking. I had to share this.
