Question about rows

Today, I couldn't take it any longer! The clamps are longer than the weights, I tried placing plates under; but the clamp just kept hitting them and giving me even set downs and rolling. (our gyms plates have those flat edges) out of frustration, I just jumped about 20 pounds after my warmup. I went straight to the 25 plate. (was supposed to be at 75) it was difficult, I got through all 5 sets but I detected myself lifting my upper body so to work on form I did 2 more sets!
The question is.. Do you think I should stay the same next set or go up from there? I'm really worried I will mess up my progress and stall faster.

I would stay at the same weight until you are sure your form is good. Are the clamps the clippy kind, if so point them up. Mine are also longer than the plates so I make certain they are on the topside during rows and deads.0 -
Or just leave the clips off? I used to be obsessive with them til I realized nobody else even used them for 250x the weight I used.
Now I only put them on if I have several weights on a bar and am doing overheads.0 -
Oh yeah I totally forgot, I've not been using clips on rows anyway.0

They are the giant clippy kind, I do point them up but the bar is one where the weight/clamp can spin. I was always afraid to try without the clamp but I will now. I'm really not comfortable with that weight. I'm already a little hampered by my size. It's really hard to get that low, I'm close to 300lbs, I fold my body as much as I can and get as low as I can but I can only fold so much.
my options are
1. leave weight as is and keep working on it (possibly even adding sets to other days)
2. deload to the weight I should be at and try without a clamp.0 -
at least with rows the weights won't fall far off the plate if they do fall, and since you're only doing 5 reps at a time they shouldn't have much of an opportunity to travel far.
Something to consider anyway.0
