Where do you feel you are lacking motivation the most? Is it in your food or exercise? I have been scouring the boards for all the info I can. Now I take that info and go and do research because every seems to have an opinion and feels they are right. LOL!
Exercise is hard for me. I joined a challenge that starts at the end of April (the Couch to 5K) so I will feel obligated to exercise.
I also take my daughter swimming two times a week and try to tread water or swim after her the whole time so I am not just bobbing in the water. Feel free to add me.0 -
Take the motivation aspect out entirely. You don't need to be motivated, because you have a plan and you follow it and you can't not follow it because, that's the plan? Motivation is only to do extra.
Like for me:
Monday - Thursday - Sat I have a weight lifting plan. it doesn't matter how I feel those days or if I want to do something else because on those days, I set aside an hour to lift weights.
Nonlifting days I eat 1750 calories -this is a very small deficit (250). Lifting days I eat 2000 calories, again, small deficit. Sometimes I eat more than that but I am allowed ot make it up on another day, within reason. I always choose to eat protein first and then fat and carbs just fill in the extra. Anything other than that, I can do whatever I want. If I want to eat more, I can, as long as its not over maintenance
Cardio and eating a larger deficit - this is the only place where I need motivation to do it, so if I only have the motivation to do cardio on 2 days of the week then great, that's 2 days above and beyond THE PLAN.
This system works pretty well for me - I don't have to push myself because the stuff I need to push myself for is all "extra". The only thing that matters is keeping up a goal based exercise routine and not overeating. Which means my plan is maintain weight + fitness + any extra motivation I have to burn some fat.0
