Drinking water is a necessity when it comes to healthy weight loss and lifestyle, but many of us struggle to get adequate hydration each day.

The challenge: Drink a minimum of 80oz of water a day. Straight up water. While technically speaking, things like Crystal Light, coffee, even soda, they all count towards our daily fluid needs. However, fresh water is by far the easiest for our bodies to utilize for hydration as well as the dilution and filtration of waste. Overall fluid intake goal should be approximately 100oz, give or take for size, activity level, and medical needs.

Benefits of drinking water:
-It's necessary for efficient energy metabolism. Meaning? You get more bang for your buck calorie-wise when you get adequate water.
-It replenishes depleted stores in our muscles. This makes for fewer muscle cramps and less muscle soreness.
-Clearer skin and improved appearance of vitality.
-Often helps with chronic headaches.
-Vitally important for the processing of vitamin/mineral supplements as well as increased fiber intake. It helps you poop!

We support the use of water tracking/reminder apps. There are many options on the iOS and Android markets, but a great application that is free, simple to use, customizable and reliable, is "Hydro drink water"
The name may seem kinda of "blah" but the results are great. Using your weight, it will give you an approximation of how much you should try to drink. You can adjust it to whatever goals you have though, and it will graph your progress over time. There are a bunch of little interesting stats you can see as well.

Another great thing about the "Hydro drink water" app is that it actively supports the organization Charity:Water, which provides clean drinking water options to developing nations. Donations are not required to use this app, but surely always welcome.

Please note that any suggestions herein or given by these applications are just approximate guidelines. If you have concerns about your personal hydration needs, please contact your physician for more individualized goals.
