Chewing gum

I'd always wondered about this topic. Like the author of the article below, I had always heard that chewing gum makes your body think there's food coming that will need to be digested, and therefore the body will start producing digestive chemicals and your blood sugar will rise in preparation for the food - that never comes. Turns out this theory may just be bunk. [Plus, I just like the author's snark.]

As I sit at a desk almost all day, I tend to end up grazing my way through the day. Looks like I might need to clean out the snack drawer and add a few different varieties of gum.

interesting idea!
i love any approach to weight loss that involves substitutions. sure, maybe gum isn't as satisfying as a dessert, but you still get something sweet so you don't feel totally deprived
i also agree with the author's opinion about how annoying gum smackers are. very!0
