I hate the forums despite meeting most everyone there. People can be extremely rude when just a simple answer is needed sans sarcasam.
SO....

I am posing a question:

Maybe it's just me that does this but - whenever I get close to the next set of numbers down (in this instance the 150's), I seem to sabatoge myself. Case in point.. I was at 160.2 two weeks ago. Had a few bad days, hit back up to 163. Was finally back down to 162 this morning, but what did I do.. tonight I went out and literally gorged myself at O'Charley's with my girlfriends. There is no way I'll drop back down to the 160.2 I was showing 2 weeks ago by Saturday.. hell at this point I'll be lucky if I don't surpass the 163 (especially the sodium).

So why do I (we) do this to ourselves? Any thoughts/ideas?

Yep, I do that too. Not exactly based on 10 pound increments, but yeah. I will do well for a while and then, blam!
Why do we do this? Fear of success? Fear of failure? Getting to a comfy place and feeling overly confident then complacent? Not sure.

I wish I could understand the reason for it. Since October I've been close to 250, but can't get below it

I'm the exact same way. I got down to 145 once about a month ago and then shot right back up to 150...I've been going back and forth from 153 down to 148 for the last month and it's driving me crazy! I'm getting so lazy. LOL

BTW - love all the Rob love in the tickers :)

Weighed in this morning 250.2. If I can't get below 250 this time, I might scream

Shell, maybe switch up your diary some. try to cut out all the sweets for awhile and see if that helps, plus - just looking back at the last few days, it looks like you're eating back your exercise calories. Maybe try and stop doing that and just eat at your goal calorie count.

I'm starting to think the fitbit overestimates calories burned. I think I'm going to start not wearing the fitbit while walking for exercise, and wearing my hrm to get a more accurate count.
The sweets have been bad this week, i've been very stressed at work, and there are not really any healthy options available at work that I can eat at my desk & not get in too much trouble

I tend to think we've been at this so long, we're slipping like we would normally (on previous non MFP weight loss ventures) and since we are on MFP we are more in tune to what is happening to us. Now is the time to get back to what made us successful.

I did really well in the beginning. But, I have not been telling myself NO, like I used to, and its catching up with me. Thats what it took in the beginning, and that's what it takes now. Diligence and effort is always going to be required of us to lose and maintain those losses.

I agree with you. I did great for quite awhile and lost 38 lbs. from Jan. 2011 to November. Then the holidays hit and I got lazy, & now I'm back up a bit. Finally feeling motivated enough to be starting to lose again, but it will be awhile til I am back where I had been 6 months ago & that's frustrating. I keep telling myself I am still better off than I was at this same time a year ago!

Maybe bring them with you every day or is there a fridge then you could store stuff in?

Also - yeah there might be a difference between the fitbit and what you're actually burning but my point is, don't touch the calories you burn from exercise. Just pretend they don't exist and stay true to the goal #.

Yvonne - I agree. I was super strict when I first started. Now I'm kind of wondering if seeing that big #70 on my ticker is more detrimental than helpful if you know what I mean.

First, I must argue with the title of this post. Come now, we all know EVERYTHING RELATES TO TWILIGHT! In this situation, I would say your experience of weight loss is like the Saga in its entirety. We all know that Edward and Bella are going to wind up together. However, every time things are all happy and going well, something happens. A tracking vampire shows up at a baseball game; Edward has a serious attack of stupid and decides to leave Bella for her own good; a vindictive vampire creates an army to kill Bella.

In the same way, when things are going well with our weight loss, we get a little tired of being good, or a little complacent, or a little hungry. Sometimes, I think our bodies get used to a certain level and resist moving to a lower one. We have to rise to the challenge -- destroy James, race to Italy, or face down the army. But, facing these challenges actually take us to a new level just like the challenges they face bring Edward and Bella closer.

KBrenOH, I love that beautiful ticker! It tells the world how awesome you are! :flowerforyou:

You are so wise! What would we do without you to bring us back to Twilight?
