Today is the opening match of the USTA season. I am playing 3.5 ladies doubles. I am excited to be playing 31 pounds lighter. I had a practice match, that we lost, 5-7, 6-0, 3rd set tiebreak 10-8. While it was rough losing a heartbreak match, I felt very positive about the way I was playing. Best of all was the big decrease in my "fitness points". Fitness points are what I call the points that I lose because I was not fit enough to get where I needed to get. I know with every pound that I lose the number of fitness points will decrease proportionally.
Any other USTA players gearing up for the season?

Hopefully, some other tennis players will join in soon. But for now, I am happy to say that we won our first USTA doubles match of the season, 6-1, 6-2 and I didn't lose any fitness points! Our team was also victorious. The only down side was that the match was at 6pm. I don't want to eat dinner before playing and I didn't get home until 8:30pm, too late for a real dinner. I had my low fat chocolate milk after the match, and when I got home I had strawberries.
Does anyone have any strategies for eating when a match is at dinner time?

I'm not playing USTA, but I did just start playing in an online flex singles league and am about to start in a doubles league as well. Tennis is definitely a motivating factor for me in trying to get fit.

I don't have any great ideas about dinner-time matches. Generally, I try to eat something light around 4 or sometimes I have a powerade right before the match to keep my energy up and then something light after the match.

Played my second doubles Usta match of the season, 6-1, 6-1. I am ready to try some singles. Tennis is both a way for me to work on my fitness and as R said it is a great motivator, I am looking forward to moving better as I lose more pounds.

We are trying to get a team started but we need some additional people to join us. BUT, we are having a great time working out and practicing while we try to get something started!
