Calf strain?

This morning, I had planned to do 2 miles in my VFFs and then switch to my "regular" shoes for another 4 miles. I've been slowly working up to more mileage in the VFFs, doing 4 miles in one day last week. I decided to split that into 2 days of 2 miles each, and today was the first day of that new plan.
As I approached the end of the 2 miles in VFFs, I felt a sudden, sharp pain in my right calf muscle and had to stop. I tried stretching it out a bit and jogging a bit more, but it hurt a lot, so I stopped. I've iced it and am keeping it elevated and I've had some ibuprofen.
Of course I'm paranoid about what this might mean - how bad is the injury, how long will I have to wait it out, how long will recovery take? I've been doing SO WELL over the winter and my race times have gotten faster. Marathon training season JUST started, and I'm a coach for a group of first time marathoners.
Anybody got anything reassuring to say?
