Hello

I am Sue from the UK same as ones on here :)

Been married for 30 yrs have 2 grown children [should I say that lol] who still live at home.

My son has lost 10 stone [not sure of the pounds] was left with a lot of excess skin and had an abdominal plasty done, he looks amazing and is my inspiration.

My daughter needs to loose 5 stone, so she is on the plan too.

I have lost what my ticker says, its taken me just over 2 yrs to do so. I started with WW lost 8 stone, then daughter joined SW so to stop the arguments tea time!!! I joined with her and lost a further 16lbs, I found it hard to keep to though so was up and down the scales more than a pianist!

Changed back to WW but I don't attend a meeting, I follow the calories on here as do my son and daughter. I'm going through the mental pause [LOL[ quite badly at times and have been known to bleed for over 6 weeks on and off, it affects my cravings, get tired, lathargic etc, and feel like giving up, but I don't. I have no alternative but to stick with it and chissell away every day at the wall of fat!

I lost the same 2 lbs each week, up and down the scales for that 6 weeks, then last week.................................WAIT FOR IT.......... I lost a whooping 6 pounds! so yes, I keep going at it. My skin is looking as wrinkled as as elephant in places [upper arms mostly] but I don't care, I'm going on at it and face that later. I can't afford to get mine done like my son did, but..............hopefully because of my other problems doc says they will take me seriously and is going to refer me as I have a droop..............not going into details hahaha that need surgery so hopefully, fingers crossed...................that's a bit of a way off so I'm not really concentrating on that for a bit.

I would love to have more friends on here, ones that keep in touch, I love to support others in doing that it helps me too.

What have I learnt along the way?

That faddy diets only work short term.

That you need to find a suitable eating pattern within your calories that you can live with for the rest of you life.
That cutting out all things you enjoy eating will only make you crave them more so incurportate them into your calorie WEEK.

Eat normally, bulk foods out with fruit and veg.

Snack on fruit.

Find alternatives for eating healthier options.

Those are just a few things that have helped me xxx

For instance, I have a jam donought each week ...........I make an allowance of calories to fulfull that want..............and boy did I enjoy it! lol

Thank you for reading

hugs sue

Firstly thanks for the add! Secondly I absolutely agree with you about the fad diets.....been there and done that soooo many times and all it actually does its makes the journey that much harder....there is no quick fix! Chipping away at it is the only answer and all the little chips we knock off don't half add up! Good luck on your journey and I'll be here for the long haul (and probably after its gone too.....it's a lifetime change) so here if you need anything xx

Thank you, same with you. I agree wholeheartedly, I've also learnt from my son that we need to be focused and not let others get in the way of our aim [nicely of course!] smiles

    Hi Sue,

I joined today and thought I would join a board for inspiration and I am so pleased that I did and read your post. Wow, what an amazing familiy that you have made the commitment and followed through with such fantastic results - hats off to you.
I agree about the faddy diets, I suffered from bulimia when I was in my teens and twenties and also followed all the faddy diets and they just encouraged poor eating habits.
The weight loss I am aiming for is small in relation to yours but it does feel like a mountain to me so you really have made me determined.

    Thank you
