Started run training 2 weeks ago

I'm working intervals right now and I am up to walk 2 run 6. My goal is to be able to run for 45 minutes straight. Any over that is gravy.
Do you find a marathon inspires you to train harder? My fear is always finishing last..

I have run several half marathons, but no full ones. It is on my bucket list...but every time I finish a half I think "dang, what if I had to run back" :-)
Now for motivation, when I first started running I picked a 5k that was 10 weeks out and signed up...knowing there is a race (of any distance) coming that you have already paid for is motivating...
Don't worry about finishing last...nonsense. My very first 5K took me 45 minutes....I wasn't last and when I lamented to my husband about my time he said "you couldn't have been last even if you tried...you were in the race. I was last...I didn't run. 90% of the population was home on the sofa while you were out running this race...they are last...you ran, you were not last". Very true...
Last place is for the guy on the sofa...you are out there getting it done.
BTW, my first 1/2 marathon my friend and I were passed by a one legged guy...seriously. He passed a lot of people that day :-)0
