Classy yet sexy clothing...

So I have been seeing this guy who I REALLY like:happy: and I have been dressing to impress him. It has been mainly skirts and dresses but when we go to late night movies I do wear jeans. Anyways, when we were together on Friday he mentioned that I drive him nuts when I wear skirts and dresses. Now I will see him on Wednesday and Thursday in group settings and I am having trouble deciding what to wear and looking for a guys perspective. I was going to ask my ex but he is seeing someone else and I worry I might be crossing a line. What would you prefer to see a lady in that you are dating (keep it tasteful)? Do guys prefer short (above the knee skirts/dresses) or long (ankle shirts/dresses)?

I really could ask him too, but I prefer the shock and wow approach!

Driving him crazy how? In a good way or bad way?

I'd say go for something more casual but form-fitting. Some nice jeans that make your tush look tasty, and a nice semi-dressy top.

I know we had the convo on here before of guys prefering skirts/dresses over pants/jeans but I don't think they ever said a length.

I'd say something one shoulder, it's my favorite right now. If it's a formal setting, longer. non formal, shorter.

The lady I'm talking to is currently shopping for said clothing, and it's driving me insane (in a good way) for the anticipation of what she's going to look like the night she wears the dress.

That said, I do also like a nice shirt w/ a good pair of jeans (dark jeans). The look is hot too

I know, well I got a knock to my confidence when the last guy I was with cut down everything I wore. He hated skinny jeans and told me no guys thinks they are attractive (I wear a lot of skinny jeans) and that boots over jeans just looked horrible on women (I was not going to hide my $150 boots under my jeans).

It's just his opinion. Everyone is going to be different. The one real staple that I'm not a huge fan of, is those HUGE HUGE HUGE soccer ball size sunglasses.

Boots over the jeans I like. They usually look nice.
    Skinny jeans? I don't care.

I prefer them to bell bottoms that's for sure. I hope those all die in a mysterious jean fire one night.

I wear short dresses most of the time. We went to a comedy club last Saturday night and I wore a little black short dress with black heels. I felt hot!

But this has been my bf's fav outfit so far... I got a "Wow!" as soon as I walked in the door. Mind you, I didn't even wear heels.. I wore sandles because we were going to his brother's party and didn't want to overdress. I wore it again the other day with some wedge sandals and got the same response.

I used to have a little blue ruffled skirt just like this one but it got too big. Every single time I wore it, I swear I got compliments from both men and women. The guy I was dating at the time would go crazy when I'd wear it.
So my theory is, there's something about ruffles. I was so so happy when I found this one.

I have noticed recently that men respond differently to women who are wearing more feminine clothing, like skirts and dresses, as opposed to jeans or slacks. They will treat you a little differently, whether they realize they are doing it or not.

If you're going to a midrange restaurant or bar or something, dark, tight jeans, heels (the strappier the better), and a sexy top will be fine. If you're going to a nice place/event, a skirt or dress that falls just above the knee is sexy but still classy. If we're talking black tie, you'll want to go with a floor length gown. Cocktail length dresses are becoming more "in" for black tie, but I still think a proper evening gown is in better taste for formal wear. To me, it's the difference between a man wearing a tux vs. a regular business suit. It's not completely unacceptable but not the best you can do, either.

"Sexy but classy" is all about balance. For example, if you're wearing a tight dress, it shouldn't be too revealing elsewhere (not too short or too low cut). If you're wearing a short dress, it should have a full skirt. A dress with a low back should be longer, etc.

Completely agree.... I wear short stuff but then again, my legs are pretty long. So something that's average length on you, will be a bit shorter on me. Of course, I won't wear anything that shows butt cheeks.
But my rule is.. I can wear as short as I want (no butt cheeks) because I don't have my boobs hanging out. If the dress was low up top, it'd def be longer down bottom.

wow - cute outfit! I know a lot of my skirts are too big or my old clothes I kept are a little shorter. We are going to 80s night and I wanted a neon pink skirt, but my friend disapproved however I still looked for one and can't find one :( I was going to dress it down with a black t-shirt so in my head it seemed like a cute outfit.

I don't wear heels either- my new guy is my height so I don't like towering over him.

My favorite dress for more formal is a little black dress that is form fitting but not tight cap sleeved and comes to just covering the knee.

My ex for years cut down everything I bought as making me look too fat. Since we were members of the same church after I left him, I purposely wore the outfits he complained the most about being ugly and fat. Would you believe this man came up to me after a few weeks to ask my what I was trying to do to him?? Apparently, he thought all of my clothing was super hot and it was driving him crazy every church service.

Some guys just like certain things. Some guys like to just dog you out and make you feel bad about yourself.

OK, I'm done thread-jacking now... back to OP. I love a simple skirt with a blingy top.

If the group he is going with is a group of women, go for classy (If not, other women: "She's such a slu.t !").

If the group he is going with is a group of men, go for short (Other men: "You mother f*cker!" *high five with his friends after the party*).

    It's all about status.

It's mainly guys in these groups with a 1 or 2 other women and one of them being my friend. I don't want to look like a slut and that is not my intention, but I would like the high five with his friends (he got that last time we were out in the group).

Honestly, I want him to think that "damn my girl is hot, I need to make her all mine so these other guys really don't have a chance with her." Lol- I want a relationship from him but I don't want to rush. I know we are heading there, I just want to speed it up a bit.

I pretty much only wear skinny jeans...sandals or flats in the summer or boots in the winter!!! My favorite look :)

I think men would like knee length or shorter...longer skirts are more hippy to me (not that that is bad, it just not my taste).

i wore a black wrap over dress today and cant beleive the amount of compliments. 2 men even came up to me in the street and said 'lookin goood'. It crosses over the bust in a V and wraps and falls from the waist at the front. Fitted. Knee length.

I think its quite formal/smart. I was at work! Not reavealing at all, but figure hugging.

And I am totally fat at the moment! :noway:

I like them short enough so that they're sexy, but not too short so that they're slutty. I don't know if it's just me but a dress or a skirt can make any girl look about 100 times hotter.
