Wheat Allergy/ Egg Allergy

Hi everyone,
I was told this morning that I have an allergy to egg whites and wheat (along with bananas of all things) so I'm looking for some support and recipes and things to help with this shocking transition. Is it okay if I'm here? Or is there another group that would be better for me?

Tina

    Absolutely!

There are a number of vegan and gluten free blogs around that will have lots of recipes for you. If you let me know what you are looking for, I'd be happy to help. I have lots of recipes!

Here's a bread recipe to start you off:

My son has mutliple food allergies including wheat and egg, so here are some quick ideas I have (I also am dairy/wheat/gluten-free)...

In all my baking I use applesauce for an egg replacer, 1 unsweetened cup (those cups they sell it in) equals about 2 eggs. I buy mixes like cake mixes from The Cravings Place or Namaste and they make excellent cake/cupcakes for my son and other people can't stay out of them.

When I make chicken tenders for my son, I use crushed up gluten-free cornflakes and no egg, you can just dip because they are already wet (sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder as well).

I get pancake mixes by the above mentioned mixes for my son that calls for no eggs, but you can also use applesauce again for a replacer which makes things more dense/moist.

I use trader joe's brown rice bread and freeze it because it molds easy and always toast it for sandwiches, etc for my son. It has no egg in it, as a lot of bread will.

    I'll think of more later.

p.s. I'm allergic to banana as well, you don't need them in smoothies after all.

The biggest thing is to stick close to whole, naturally gluten-free/egg-free foods as much as possible - fruits, veggies, potatoes, nuts, seeds, animal products if you eat them, etc. rather than relying on store bought commercially processed gluten free foods. But of course you will want recipes as well for those things that you miss, so let us know.
