Writing down reps/weights in weight training?

I haven't done this . Does anyone do this or recommend it ? Just to track progress?

    I do it when I do strength training, as I try to increase weight/reps every 6 weeks so your body develops as you get used to lifting this weight.

    Depends on what you are doing with weights.

    Are you strength training to gain muscle
    Or
    Are you strength training to get trim?
