Which Slow Cooker Should I Buy

Ok, peeps, I need me some advise! Our slow cooker crock just cracked - right across the middle of the bottom, dangit. So now I have to buy a new one. I made the mistake of hitting Amazon just to see what's out there, and now I'm completely befuddled. Who KNEW there were that many brands, styles and options for slow cookers! Holy crap, people, it's JUST a slow cooker!
I need a slow cooker. A timer would be nice. It does not need to act as a buffet piece, have more than one pot or balance my checkbook - it just needs to slowly cook stuff. Any suggestions?

Good luck on your search - I have no advice except to be wary of the cheap ones. My Breville crock pot was wonderful but replaced it with a cheaper version - looks good but cooks way hotter, so can't leave some meals all day.0

I have three slow-cookers: A programmable Hamilton Beach 6-quart, a cheap non-programmable Hamilton Beach 4-quart and a 2-quart. I have found the programmable one to be worth its weight in gold: It automatically switches to Warm when the cooking time is done. However, it's just my husband and I at home, so the 6-quart is too big for many recipes (they recommend a crock is at least half full). My 4-quart does a great job and was less than $30 at Target.
Hope that helps!0 -
I bought the cheap one at walmart with just a knob you twist. No preset timer or anything and use it for corned beef and pot roast regularly. Less things to go bad with less features.0
