A coworker and I both started Insanity about a week ago and we both have the same basic question. We’re on day 5&6 and Shawn T keeps referring to “focus on the core”. What exactly does that mean? Are we suppose to keep the stomach tight/flexed, making sure to breath right, or what?

Thanks everyone

You should always be conscious of your core when doing any sort of physical activity. It's not necessarily flexing your core muscles, but rather making sure not to relax them. For instance when you're doing the hip flexor stretch, it's really easy just to let your belly hang out because you're focusing on the stretch, but he says to focus on the core which means you have to make sure to keep it tight even when you're just stretching. That's why there's not a lot of "ab workouts" per say, because if you're focusing on your core throughout the entire insanity workout you'll be working your abs really well.
