My daughter is getting to go see One Direction in Las Vegas on Saturday for her 11th birthday. She'll be with me and 2 girls in the 12-13 year old range and it's a total surprise. We also don't know the girls that are going with us (they are the daughter and friend of a family friend).

What do you recommend she wear for her first "grown-up" concert?

I still remember my first concert- Spice Girls! I was 11 and I went with my cousin and best friend. The three of us coordinated our outfits and had a lot of fun doing it. We all wore different color shorts, a different Spice Girls shirt, funky shoes and styled each other's hair and painted each other's nails. Maybe you could invite all the girls over to plan their outfits? It would give you a chance to get to know them before the concert too.

Either way, I would recommend jeans and a cute top, maybe something sparkly, and comfy shoes. As an avid concert go-er, lots of standing is always involved so that's #1- you have to be able to walk in your shoes all night (probably not as much of a concern for an 11 yo since I doubt she owns heels!). The other thing is temperature, most concerts tend to get really hot so I prefer to wear a skirt a lot of times over jeans (something flowy that I can move in and dance!). Because the concert is in Vegas I'm going to assume it's at a huge venue and they'll have the AC pumping full blast, so it might not be as big of a deal. Lastly, get her a fun accessory like some bangley bracelets or a chunky necklace.

That sounds like a blast though, girls at that age are a lot of fun. Enjoy the concert!

^ This. Totally this! I like putting spray sparkle in my hair too just for extra effect... Yes, this is girly, and I'm almost 30, but it is fun!

Unfortunately the other girls don't live in our town so a get-together for them before the concert isn't an option.

So sparkles are definitely in. I'll make sure to bring some sparkle hair spray and maybe some glittery makeup for all the girls to get glam in the hotel room and fun accessories like bangle bracelets.

She has clothes she could wear but I was thinking of getting her a new outfit especially since our birthday present to her has to be postponed until next weekend.

    Thanks for the suggestions ladies!

Face paint can be fun too.

For my first concert, the Monkees, my best friend had "Lori loves Davy" and "(her name) loves Peter" t-shirts made up for us to wear. :blushing:
