Fwiw I did mistakenly walk into a ladies restroom in a bar once.
I am sure the look of absolute panic on my face when I realized what I had done was enough to convince anyone it wasn`t perverted.

I'd rather be called a pervert for walking into the wrong restroom then be paid 77% of what men do to do the same job. #justsayin

Pay for the same job with the same experience is about 98%. The 77% number is because women tend to be more prevalent in lower paying professions.

Income disparity is a personal problem, not a societal one. You have a choice to turn down a salary that is less than you feel you are worth, and, frankly, you're a fool if you don't. As with everything else in life, you teach people how to treat you.

It is essentially the effect of motherhood. The pace of women's earnings slows once kids enter the picture. Childless, college educated single women in their 20s in big cities earn more than comparable men (http://www.usatoday.com/money/workplace/2010-09-01-single-women_N.htm).

What's more is that in many professional industries these days, firms are actively seeking out women to groom for positions in executive management. But it basically requires surrendering your personal life. Women know that this usually means choosing between a husband/kids/standard 9 to 5 job or a large paycheck, working 100 hours a week, and going home to an empty house every night. Most women simply aren't willing to give up the former for more zeros on their paycheck, so those positions go to men even when the companies are trying desperately to get more women to accept them.

I make at least as much money as a male my age and with my education and experience would make in my job. I also have never low-balled in salary negotiations just to get a job. When you accept a lower salary than you wanted, you are basically saying to the company "I'm not worth as much as I wanted." Bad way to start off in a new job.

Whole different thread topic but also the reason so many women stay in horrible situations once married.
I can`t count the number of times I told someone to remember once the knot is tied they are economically bonded to the man as well (assuming mortgage and children).

Both of these answers are so insightful. I figured it was because the 77% number came from studies conducted by women. Let's face it, women suck at math. j/k

I just wanna say that a man looking at a woman's breasts is a normal, healthy, male (not STARING though, that's kinda freaky!)

Whereas a woman staring at man's crotch is kinda dreaming.....well........what is there to see?? Jeans aren't exactly revealing! (Well, unless he's erect from looking at your breasts!!)

But looking at a guy's *kitten*, well, that's normal, healthy and yummy! And staring is perfectly acceptable too!
