We went out to Bohemia mines again on Sunday, trying to get to the ghost town, we made it further but after hiking in snow for about an hour we gave up and turnes around. On the way back I decided to stick my walking pole in the snow to get a measurement, the pole went down all the way so we were hiking on at least 41/2 feet of snow! It's June for goodness sakes. We ran into another hiker who had also given up and said in some spots it was at least 10-15 feet still. So probably gonna have to give up on the ghost town till Augest. This is nothing though compared to the next location we came apon on the way down the mountian. We were sopposed to be going home but I thought we could just walk one more trail..... we walked along the road about half a mile maybe a little further(I forgot my pedo) then My fiance said lets just go around the corner see whats there and turn around because the sun is setting. I agreed so around the corner we went and what was there?! OMG a brown bear 2-3 years old and about 350-400 Pounds I would guess. I swear I have never before in my life been so scared. I had no gear no walking sticks no whistle no first aid kit..... everything was in the car, point to my story is lesson learned even if im just stopping to check a spot out I need to bring my gear.

No matter how far yes bring the gear :) I'm terrrrrified of seing a bear. Went on a light hike this weekend and literally within the first quarter mile a girl had gone right down the ledge and into the river. No one (including us) had gear...ugh (I left a lot in AZ with the intention of doing light hikes only but even with light hikes I guess things happen)
